Born in 1921 in [[Mampong]], Gold Coast (modern [[Ghana]]), J. H. Kwabena Nketia was his parents' only child.<ref>Akrofi, Eric A. (2003). Nketia was a professor of music at [[UCLA]] and the [[University of Pittsburgh]], and lectured in many prestigious universities worldwide, including [[Harvard University]], [[Stanford University]], [[University of Michigan]], [[City University London]], the University of Brisbane in [[Australia]], the [[University of Kansas]], [[Lawrence, Kansas|Lawrence]], and the [[China Conservatory of Music]], [[Beijing]].<ref>K. According to GhanaWeb: "His concept and interpretation of time and rhythmic patterns in Ghanaian and other African folk music were revolutionary, and became standard for researchers and scholars around the world." He introduced, for example, the use of the more readable [[6/8 time|{{music|time|6|8}} time]] signature in his compositions as an alternative to the use of duple ({{music|time|2|4}}) time with triplets that was used earlier by his mentor and teacher, [[Ephraim Amu]]. Although this practice undermined Amu's theory of a constant basic pulse in African music, and generated debate, Nketia pointed out that the constant use of triplets in a duple time signature was misleading. Many scholars nowadays have found his theory useful in transcribing African music.<ref name=GhanaWeb />

Nketia was honoured with many awards in Ghana, including the Companion of the [[Order of the Star of Ghana]], the Grand Medal of the Government of Ghana (Civil Division), a DLitt (Honoris Causa) of the University of Ghana, the Ghana Book Award, ECRAG Special Honour Award (1987), Ghana Gospel Music Special Award (2003), and the ACRAG Flagstar Award (1993). The '''Illerstadion''' is a 9,000 capacity multi-use stadium in [[Kempten]], Germany. The stadium is located on the Illerdamm 10 road, on the east side of the [[Iller|River Iller]] in the northern area of the town. ==History==
The first plans for a stadium next to the river were submitted by Otto Merkt in 1919. However, it was not until 1938 that the city council received plans from the planning officer Maximilian Vicari that construction began. The plans included 5,600 standing room, a small-caliber shooting range, facilities for high jump, shot put, pole vault and parking for 200 cars.

In 1939, the playing field and a cinder [[motorcycle speedway]] track were added. The main stand was completed in 1949 and the large standing stand wall and marathon gate were completed in 1956. It then had a 12,500 capacity.

In 1995, the main square and sand track were converted and expanded into an athletics competition track. Okpella Development Association (ODA-USA) was founded by members of Okpella's US diaspora <ref name="auto1">{{cite web |last1=Okpella |first1=Edo |title=Nigeria: US-Based Okpella Group Lauds Igbinedion's Programmes |url=https://allafrica.com/stories/200110260328.html |website=AllAfrica.com |access-date=23 February 2024}}</ref> in 1999 and has since focused on improving community experiences in Okpellaland and among members of the US diaspora.

On July 5th, 2019, ODA-USA celebrated its 20th year anniversary with a celebration and fundraising event, themed as "Health is Wealth". During the event, the former ODA-USA President Mrs. Victoria Momoh-Salau described the benefit of ODA-USA medical missions in Okpellaland. Also, the former ODA-USA Vice Chairman Dr. Charles O. Kerobo stressed the importance of organizational partnerships to more closely reach indigenes of Okpellaland and Edo State globally.<ref name="auto"/>

:I am messaging to try and get a better understanding of how to make the article I submitted more credible. I understand your comment about the type of sources but these are the only ones available that document the activities of the organization online, usually through past activities and those that are documented on social media. But none of the sources I used were published by the same people and have a wide time range which shows that the organization has been in existence for a while now.
:I was thinking, there are two other sources that I may add that I am seeing on Google. There are articles by Dr. Jean Borgatti, art historian, curator and professor whose work on Okpella also documents the organization (https://www2.clarku.edu/faculty/jborgatti/fulbrightyear.htm). There's also a Daily Post Nigeria article about Nollywood actress Doris Simeon receiving an award from the organization (https://dailypost.ng/2012/08/11/actress-doris-simeon-honoured-us/).
