Might imply that the technical concept was also passed on from Persia to everyone else, but was it? What about the Arabs and their tannur? As I have written above at "Tandoor Etymology", the origin and local variant of the term is normally connected to the technical evolution and "cultural wanderings &amp; borrowings" between civilisations, as technologies and their name ususually travel together.
