I think is it still necessary but more of the article needs to be reviewed. I have never seen the Delta symbol used to describe the Laplacian operator and am not convinced that is standard convention. It certainly makes interpreting the equation needlessly confusing. The Wiki article on "Thermal diffusivity" gives the heat equation correctly. I copied the equation and reference from that page and put it in this one. undo Tag: Reverted
