I have made a documentary protagonized by Rasaki Aladokun, formerly the "second talking drum" player in the band of King Sunny Adé. According to him, "iya llu" (which I transcribed as "iyailu" means "mother of the drum," or "the drum's mother." The largest of the batá drums, for example, is the "iyailu" of the batá.
