It is from a literalist author. Views like this are rightly not included (according to consensus) on the Abraham page and shouldn’t be here. If there are more robust, scholarly arguments for situating aspects of Jacob’s story further into the past, I’m happy to hear them and see how we can integrate them into the page. It is flatly contradicted by the Dever quote above (used as a sort of “final” source in the protected Abraham and Moses pages on the topic of historicity). This is a case of false balance and does not belong in an encyclopedia. If someone would like to re-write a section connected to the Hyksos based on academic sources, I’d be open to that.
