The Drawn Together cast (Counter-clockwise from upper left): Wooldoor, Toot, Ling-Ling, Foxxy, Xandir, Clara, Spanky, and Captain Hero.

List of main characters appearing on the animated series, Drawn Together.

Captain Hero

Voiced by Jess Harnell.

A chauvinistic and lecherous superhero with a frat-boy mentality, Captain Hero is a macho parody of comic book heroes like Superman (specifically, his design is a poke at Bruce Timm's animated version of Superman). His real name is Leslie. He is the creator of the League of Heroes, Earth's premier superhero team. Originally from the planet Zebulon (which he later destroyed in a misguided attempt to prove himself), his parents had him aborted and sent the fetus hurtling towards the sun when it was revealed that he would be the lamest superhero ever born; the pod carrying him went off course, though, and he ended up surviving and being raised on Earth. In his other life he solves crimes and reports to a city commissioner and has a cave, like Batman.

Though he is attracted to women, Hero is also a devoteé of bondage and crypto-homosexual behaviour; he is known to have had a one night stand with Bizarro Captain Hero, whom he later murdered to keep the affair a secret, carries on a continuing homosexual affair with The Green Lantern, and harbors a quasi-homosexual interest in fellow housemate Xandir, whom he both mocks and yet seems to be good friends with. His homosexual interest in Xandir appears to have reached a peak when he drugged Xandir with chloroform and then apparently raped his unconscious body (Hero later did the same to his own parents); Hero seems to think doing this erases peoples' memories. He cries often, and frequently dresses and acts like a teenage girl. He also acts like a small child on occasion.

Hero is extremely dumb, prone to making bad jokes (whereas he says the same of the Qur'an in 'Dirty Pranking Number 2'), once tearing out Xandir's intestines because he thought Xandir was someone else, and dressing up as a girl to go to a keg party, which resulted in Hero being gang raped. (This later made headlines, which announced "Best Kegger Ever") He is prone to rubbing his own nipples when excited. It is implied that he (and his parents) are Jewish, as he calls his friends "brohim" and his mother "Ima" (Hebrew for "mother". Also in plural: "Imahot"), part of a running gag of Jewish in-jokes throughout the series (creators Matt Jeser and David Silverstein are both Jewish).

Hero has a variety of paraphilias, including pedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia. In the pilot episode, believing that the house will magically manifest anything he asks for, Hero says "I wish we had a twelve year old and a donkey." In the second season premier, he proclaims of Strawberry Sweetcake (a guest character who looks like an eight year old), "Here's to the teeniest ass you can tap without setting off an amber alert." In the same episode, he can be seen penetrating a giraffe during an orgy. In the episode "Super Nanny," the eponymous Super Nanny notes the presence of wadded up tissues and a book of crime scene photos under Hero's bed.

Princess Clara

Voiced by Tara Strong.

She is pampered, naive racist royalty, and a spoof on Disney/storybook characters, specifically Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She is bisexual, though deeply in denial (of course, most of the housemates are). She represents a stereotypical upper class WASP, and is ignorant towards minorities and those less fortunate than her; however, this is more the result of her upbringing than her own natural feelings.

She also seems to suffer from an unlucky streak: in several competitions held by the producers, she is always among the losers; her vagina curse (see below) remains unbroken; and she also once ends up in prison. She seems to be a natural target for physical violence by the other characters, having been punched out by both Foxxy and Captain Hero, given electrical shocks by Foxxy, and pushed down several flights of stairs by Toot. Her list of calamities even surpasses Ling-Ling's, though only in number (not in intensity).

She has a "special" cousin named Bleh, who is severely mentally retarded and must wear a football helmet at all times to protect her skull. Her genitalia, which she calls "Octopussoir," were cursed by her stepmother; it turned into a giant, tentacled monster which can speak. Her attempt to remove the curse resulted in Prince Charming's penis turning into a similar monstrous creature.

She harbors crushes for rebels like Spanky and Foxxy. One episode implies that she was at one point involved in an incestuous relationship with her father, The King. She is also something of a religious fanatic, mentioning Jesus often and going off on crusades against things she considers abominations in God's eyes, such as Spanky's gay marriage to Xandir, or Wooldoor's chronic masturbating. In "Clum Babies", she is shown observing penance, indicating that she is most likely Roman Catholic.

Ling-Ling

Voiced by Abbey McBride.

He is a spoof on Pikachu and speaks in an incomprehensible parody of Japanese with subtitles, along with broken "Engrish" (although his subtitles sometimes contain Engrish as well). Like Pokémon, he is a creature who battles regularly, utilizing an array of supernatural powers (examples being his ability to glow in the dark, shoot lasers from his eyes, and create balls of energy capable of stunning or immobilizing his opponents). He is also able to use his tail as a sword, as seen in the episode "Foxxy vs. The Board of Education". However, unlike most Pokémon, this has made him prone to violent outbursts and killing sprees. He is in denial about having murdered his best friend (a parody of Pokemon's Ash, whom Ling Ling killed in an unprovoked, violent outburst). He resents being thought of as the household pet, although he has been shown using a litter box and being transported in a pet carrier (which is shaped like a box of take-out Chinese food). In "The Other Cousin" it is revealed that Ling-Ling prays to L. Ron Hubbard, implying that Ling-Ling is a member of the Church of Scientology.

Though most of the other characters cannot understand Ling-Ling, they often pretend he is saying what they want to hear. Spanky Ham can understand him, but doesn't bother to translate for the housemates; Foxxy Love seemed to have no trouble understanding him when he appeared to her in ghost form in "Foxxy vs. the Board of Education". He secretes a hallucinogen through the skin when disappointed, though he may not be able to do this anymore after Xandir, Toot, and Wooldoor licked him dry in "The Other Cousin". The ability seems to be hereditary since his father does it as well.

Ling-Ling also likes to go clubbing every night to battle female Pokémon-like monsters. In one episode, Ling-Ling had to submit to an arranged battle with a beautiful purple cat-like monster named Ni-pul (pronounced "nipple"), who was murdered at the end of the episode in a shooting rampage. She has not been seen or mentioned since this happened, indicating that apparently she was not brought back to life as the rest of the characters were using Wooldoor's "clum babies" (see below entry "Wooldoor Sockbat").

Ling-Ling is also the series's unluckiest character, having been killed off in a number of episodes. (see also List of Ling-Ling deaths)

Ling-Ling's race is Asian, but it is never stated explicitly what his particular ethnicity is. Japanese is usually indicated, but there are hints of Chinese ancestry as well, such as constant references to fortune cookies, Chinese food, and dry cleaning. In season 2, Ling-Ling takes on more Asian stereotypes, such as being unable to drive, always acing standardized tests, and always pronouncing the letter "L" as "R". In fact, to Ling-Ling, the other housemates look like anime characters until Wooldoor rounds out his eyes with tape. Another consequence of this procedure was that Ling-Ling could speak perfect English, at least until he took the tape off and reverted back to his old self.

Foxxy Love

Voiced by Cree Summer.

She is a sassy, promiscuous, African-American fox-girl, and a spoof on Valerie from Josie and the Pussycats. Foxxy is bisexual, though she leans more towards lesbianism (as evidenced by her relationship with Clara). Foxxy often hints at a deranged relationship with her father, with elements of abandonment and possibly incest. There are also hints that she gave up a child up on the black market and that she's had several abortions.

Despite her role as the "Sassy, Trouble-Causing Black Woman" on reality TV shows, Foxxy ironically acts as the voice of reason on many episodes. This may only be a relative factor, as the other characters are obviously less stable than their reality TV counterparts.

She is perhaps the character that gets the most airtime and has some major part in almost every episode except for "The Other Cousin". Her middle name has been given as "Shaqwafafa," based on pronounciation. She is arguably the most intelligent of the housemates. She has an extremely elaborate masturbation ritual which involves heavy use of props, such as a lightsaber. When she masturbates, her orgasms become fiery explosions.

Starting in Season 2, her character design was tweaked so now her nipples are always sticking out (in the first season they stuck out only when she was excited) when she is in her usual outfit. Most likely a fanservice.

Her relationship with Princess Clara is extremely complex. She is repulsed by Clara's racism, but doesn't hate her, acknowledging that it's not really Clara's fault. That hasn't stopped them from fighting visciously on occasion, however. In spite of this she seems to consider Clara a good friend, as evidenced by the episode "Clara's Dirty Little Secret", when she went to great lengths to protect her from the violent intentions of the other housemates. The two also seem to possess a strong sexual attraction to one another, as they have made out on at least four occasions (three times in "Hot Tub" and once in "Ghostesses in the Slot Machine").

Spanky Ham

Voiced by Adam Carolla.

He is a horny, crude pig (literally) with few social skills, who is a parody of the immature characters found on bad internet Macromedia Flash movies. A first season episode reveals that Spanky is a Muslim (which, in addition to serving as the punchline to a 9/11 joke in that episode, may be an in-joke itself, as Islam considers pigs to be especially unclean creatures that are to be avoided). The cartoon character is, in his "life" away from the show, an animated barker who inhabits an internet porn site, introducing the viewer to the various wares available.

He often bosses around the other characters for his personal gain. He is crudely animated and appears to be somewhat visually based on the South Park, Retarded Animal Babies, and killfrog.com characters. He also sometimes serves as a parody of porn star Ron Jeremy (complete with a gigantic penis, which appears blurred out when he exposes himself), who was featured in the reality show The Surreal Life. Like most of the other characters on the show, he has exhibited signs of being bisexual (he participates in a game of "spin the bottle" with other male houseguests in which the losers have to make out), though at the end of season one he was involved with Clara. Their relationship has not been referred to in season 2, however, indicating that most likely it is no longer current. He also once "gay married" Xandir for free health insurance, but was unable to force himself to have sex with Xandir, which nearly prevented him from getting the insurance. Spanky's being willing to have sex with any woman but not Xandir may imply that he is straight.

During the first few episodes of the series, Spanky was depicted as a villain, committing such horrible deeds as making a slave out of Ling-Ling in "Gay Bash", and forcing Wooldoor to trick Clara into singing in "Requiem For a Reality Show" so he could kill and eat all the woodland creatures that inexplicably appeared whenever she did so. However, after bonding with Clara in "Dirty Pranking No. 2", he would quickly become more sympathetic. In the second season, he has even served as the voice of reason on a few occasions, such as when he gave advice to Foxxy in "Captain Hero's Marriage Pact" or came to Clara's defense in "Clum Babies".

Xandir Whipplebottom

Voiced by Jack Plotnick.

Xandir P. Whipplebottom is 19 years old and represents the stereotypical token gay participant selected to appear in reality television. He is a caricature of Link from The Legend of Zelda. At the outset of the show, he often valiantly proclaimed that "I'm on a never-ending quest to save my girlfriend!" The girlfriend is a spoof of the eponymous Zelda from The Legend of Zelda. Though he is wholly devoted to her, it is apparently more out of a sense of blind obligation rather then any sort of actual love or desire for her. After he comes "out of the closet" during episode three, he is on a never-ending quest to save his boyfriend, that boyfriend being a parody of Robin Williams's portrayal of the animated Genie from Disney's Aladdin, although the second episode of Season 2, where he was one of the guests at Xandir's marriage of convenience, implied that they were no longer an item.

Girlfriend aside, he is one of the only houseguests who has not been implied to be bisexual (being fully and joyfully gay for most of the series). His name, which looks like a misspelled Xander, is a possible reference to Japanese video games that feature poor translation (i.e., All your base are belong to us). He shares his room in the house with Captain Hero, with whom he shares a friendship and much pseudo-sexual discussions. He is prone to cursing, has numerous extra lives (at least 50 in total), and is left-handed.

Toot Braunstein

Voiced by Tara Strong.

She is a feisty black & white former sex symbol who had her glory days in the 1920s; her character's age has been implied through her cellulite ridden buttocks and hips, liver spots, distended labia, and breasts which sag to her knees. She is a spoof on Betty Boop and Helen Kane (the woman on whom Betty Boop is based). She is a manic depressive who copes with life through alcoholism, binge eating, and self mutilation. The episode "The Other Cousin" suggests that she is a hermaphrodite.

When she was attracted to Xandir, her affections were refuted. When it was revealed that he was gay, she comforted herself by saying that was the only reason why he didn't want to go out with her, until Wooldor told her that "nobody likes fat people". Possibly due to this, Toot then became the show's designated "bitch," intentionally trying to cause friction amongst the houseguests by doing such things as convincing Clara that she is pregnant with Foxxy's child, and eating all the food in the house. She is upset when other characters are getting a lot of attention; in fact, Toot is the character who had the least screen time in the first season, though it's unknown whether Toot's complaint resulted from the writers' lack of storylines/scenes for her, or if this was done intentionally as a plot device. Her role has not increased significantly in the second season; in fact, Clara claims that she is a one-joke character (that joke being how fat she is).

Toot is also an unlucky character much like Ling-Ling, in that she has also been killed off in a number of episodes. (see also List of Toot Braunstein deaths) One key difference is that many of her misfortunes are self-inflicted. A running gag involves the other characters making fun of her for being overweight, and her eating indigestible objects - like television sets and cell phones - if they do not function properly.

According to a statement by Tara Strong, Toot is her favorite role in the series.

Wooldoor Sockbat

Voiced by James Arnold Taylor.

Wooldoor Jebediah Sockbat is a spoof on Spongebob Squarepants, and is loud and annoying. Arguably, he is the only character not given a definite personality, with his character mainly serving as a wacky "filler" to serve as a sidekick to all the other characters. In Season Two we learn that most of his people, the Sockbats, were murdered in a Holocaust perpetuated by the Sweetcake people (themselves parodies of Strawberry Shortcake), who turned to eating the Sockbats as a remedy for an economic crisis.

Wooldoor is sometimes shown as a minister or priest, and in a scene from the un-aired episode 6 "Terms of Endearment" declares himself to be God (however, this was shown in a preview of all Season 1 episodes in the first episode). He was once married to his buttocks, but they separated after the baby (a piece of feces) didn't look like him.

Wooldoor is the most innocent of the characters, remaining somewhat oblivious to the depravity and chaos around him. Because of this, he is perhaps the most kind-hearted of the housemates (though he once insulted Toot, saying that "nobody likes fat people"). On the downside, he is rather gullible and prone to being pushed around by the other characters (Spanky Ham in particular bullies him relentlessly). He behaves very much like a hyperactive child. This may in fact be the case; he is shown reaching puberty in "Clum Babies", indicating that he is not yet an adult. His catchphrase is simply, "Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!"

When he masturbates, his semen comes out of his mouth in the form of "clum babies," giant anthropomorphic sperm that cure the diseases of anything they touch. When Clara had the consumption, in a bittersweet irony, her life was saved by Wooldor's clum baby, although she had spent the entire episode condemning masturbation. At the end of the episode, (it is implied that) Wooldoor uses his clum babies to bring the rest of the houseguests back to life when he is the sole survivor of a shooting spree perpetuated by guest character Bob the Cucumber, who snaps when Foxxy and Spanky suggest that the Bible is open to interpretation.

Recurring Characters

Some characters who do not live in the Drawn Together house include:

  • The Jew Producer
    • Voiced by Jim Ward. Also known as "Mr. Jew Producer." He looks like a man in a suit, except with a speaker where his head should be. He is in charge of the reality show, and owns the house. He calls the housemates to inform them of the reality show challenges and can be contacted when they need him. In "The One Wherin There Is a Big Twist", he disguised himself as Bucky Bucks to give the housemates the challenge they wanted. In "The One Wherin There Is a Big Twist: Part 2", he made the housemates bow down to his penis in a game of Simon Says to allow them to return to the newly rebuilt house after they destroyed it. He would appear to be the in-show alter-ego of creators Matt Jeser and Dave Silverstein, both of whom are also Jewish.
  • Bleh
    • Voiced by Sarah Silverman. Bleh is Clara's mentally challenged cousin, her condition being the result of her mother drinking while she was pregnant. She has to wear a football helmet to protect her head, her eyes are crossed, and she possesses a severe overbite, but her body below the neck is near perfect. She sleeps in a pet carrier, and had a short-lived relationship with Captain Hero, with neither of them realizing that the other entered into the relationship to win a bet. She possesses the ability to count cards, as evidenced in "Ghostesses in the Slot Machine"; this ability may have been derived from Dustin Hoffman's character in Rain Man.
  • Ling Ling's Father
    • Voiced by Jess Harnell. Ling Ling's father made a brief debut in "The Other Cousin". He later appeared in the form of an answering machine message in "Clum Babies", where he informed Ling Ling of the arranged battle to Ni-Pul. In "The Other Cousin," he spoke in Ling Ling's language, but in "Clum Babies," he speaks English. He used to be a great battle monster like Ling Ling, but eventually retired and started a dry cleaning business. Although it has not been revealed on the show, the character's name, according to Jeser and Silverstein, is Jun-Jee (named after Jun Song and Jee Choe from Big Brother IV).
  • The King
    • Voiced by Jonathan Kimmel. The King is Clara's father and possibly the reason Clara is so bigoted. For the most part, he shares the same beliefs as his daughter. He originally disliked Spanky Ham. Clara's Father drives a carriage, sometimes while drunk (which, according to Evil Stepmother, is the reason Clara's mother is no longer around). When Clara was a child, he spent more time with strippers than he did with his daughter, always referring to the strippers' activities as "the ballet". He eventually told Clara (and Foxxy) that he loved her after watching his daughter simulate lesbian sex with Foxxy. He implies in one episode that he'd once had sex with Clara. His real name has not yet been revealed on the show. (Note: This character is not to be confused with the King of Insurance, a completely separate character from "Foxxy vs. the Board of Education".)
  • The Sockbats
    • The Sockbats are Wooldoor's people, who were wiped out in a holocaust by the Sweetcakes, who ate the Sockbats in the midst of a famine and ever since have been obsessed with cooking and eating Sockbats. Since that time, they have become proficient in making pornography. It is unknown how many Sockbats are still around, but certainly most (if not all) of Wooldoor's immediate family are now deceased.
