This page is an incomplete list of proposed mergers. Anyone may list any article merger proposal here. This is optional, and does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s} to the articles before listing them here.

In general, this page should be used primarily to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers (particularly those of a controversial nature), or assistance with difficult or complicated mergers. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved.

After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below. If you want to show off your work, use the talk page.

December 2005

List of New York City television studios seems like it needs to be merged or disambiguated (if that's the right word) with and/or from List of New York City Television and Film studios. I'm a newbie to WP, so please see the comments I gave on both pages. I'm not sure if they should be merged or if two new and completely different articles should be created. WP:UR and Wikipedia:Bad spam and other helpdesk-l related nonsense are essentially duplicating purposes. Freeform (radio format) & Freeform radio are basically covering the same thing. I am unaware of any naming conventions, though. - You're right, they're the same concept. But the Busy waiting aritcle approaches in user space, and from an efficiency point-of-view, whereas Spinlock approches it in kernel space, and as a concurrency control technique. Special Romanian Unicode characters should be merged into Romanian alphabet. The encoding problems of the two characters, namely S-comma and T-comma, have already mentioned in the Romanian alphabet article. Foreign relations between Japan and China & Sino-Japanese relations: I've unmerged these two because the previous merge was a simple copy-&-paste job, with no consideration of the content (How can the "Concluding Remarks" be in the middle and above the Table of Contents ?). Third party (United States) is by far the better and more extensive of the two and I suggest merging anything worth keeping from Third party politics into the other article. - Wow, that's a pretty heavy American bias in Third party politics. Ideally, I would go for a US-specific example/discussion of third parties in Third party (United States) and an academic/theory-based discussion in Third party politics. But given these choices....

List of World War II military units of Germany should be merged into List of German divisions in WWII. If it then turns out that not all of these units are divisions, the division article should be moved to "...military units...". Lupo 12:20, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tuberculin should be merged into Mantoux test. The articles have duplication of content, with the majority of the tuberculin article already being in the Mantoux test. On e possibility is to merge tuberculin into mantoux test, since the mantoux test incorporates tuberculin, and then discuss what tuberculin is. Another possibility is to keep the articles separate, delete the redundant content, and let the tuberculin article discuss what tuberculin is, its history, etc., and then put all the information about the test itself under Mantoux test. —Brim 07:58, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Rug making should be merged with Carpet, then there is Category:Rugs that is in the wilderness... it could be renamed Carpet making. If there is good cause to maintain Rugs separately from Carpets, then make that clear and institute it as a disambiguation page or prominent cross linking. Rug making & Carpets and particularly how they refer to each other is a bit sloppy, confusing and redundant. - It seems to me that the merge needed is more between poison and toxin as the distinction is subtle and toxins being a subset of poisons. Toxicity is a discussion of how potent poisons and toxins are and could be a section on that page but seems also fine as its own page.

Unsigned/undated listings

U.S. Far East Air Force, U.S. Army Forces Far East, Philippine Army Air Corps, Philippine Department, Offshore Patrol—need to be rationalised somehow

HavenCo is an almost identical reiteration of content already included in Sealand, (and which belongs there IMO) with a few additional links. I propose that the links should be merged with the Havenco section of Sealand, and HavenCo then deleted.

Italian unification#Italy after the Congress of Vienna (1815) and Historical states of Italy#Italy in the year 1815.

Islamism should be merged into Islam as a political movement

Jury trial and jury: a lot of material in jury is about the trial process, and should be moved accordingly. US-specific and non-US specific aspects should be sorted out. Jury should keep jury selection, indemnification etc.

Mass airflow sensor and Mass air meter should be merged. Also I think the former is most commonly referred to with 'Air' and 'Flow' as separate words. Also, should be disambiguated from MAF

Metal Slug X is a retooled version of the Metal Slug 2 video game. The articles contain mostly the same information aside from the minor diferences and should be merged. manmonk

Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania should be merged with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania according to what seems to be a general policy for having a single article for conterminous entities: San Francisco County, California redirects to San Francisco, California; Nantucket County, Massachusetts redirects to Nantucket, Massachusetts; Kings County, New York redirects to Brooklyn, etc.

Posadas and La Posada contain similar content, descriving the Mexican holiday tradition. These should be merged, and a redirect set up from one to the other. Las Posadas is already redirecting to La Posada.

Postposition and adposition I think this article should be merged with adposition along with preposition. Currently, adposition is merely a stub, and even if we include the quite large corpus of text in preposition, it still wouldn't be too big to handle. Especially if we try limit the amount of examples. Adposition is the combined term and since placement is the only thing differing the various "-position", it doesn't seem all that useful to keep separate articles on them. At least not until it's grown too large to be housed in one article.

Picalilli and Piccalilli. The former is a misspelling, but common enough to leave as a redirect, I expect. I don't have the technical background knowledge on chutneys to know how much, if any, of the contect should be merged.

Raver, rave party, and rave music might all be merged to form rave culture.

Sparta (city), Wisconsin should be merged into Sparta, Wisconsin. The information about the "city" is more accurate, and there is not a separate town and city.

STUN and STUN_protocol are on the same topic (Simple Traversal of Udp over Nats). The shorter title appears to be more complete and correct.

Taboo Tuesday into WWE (per VfD)
