Jabalpur Engineering College (JEC), formerly known as Government Engineering College, Jabalpur is a public university located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. Admissions

  • B.E.(PTDC):- For the in-serivce personnels holding a diploma in engineering, Part Time Degree Courses (PTDC) of four year duration are being run in the evenings since 1966. These courses were started with an intake of 20 students in each of the core branches i.e. Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics & Telecommunication departments.
  • M.Sc.:- Every year 15 seats are alloted for the respective departments i.e. Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Selection is purely based on the percentage obtained in B.Sc degree examination, minimum expectation is 50% for the eligibility. Departments may conduct a selection test if the number of applicants exceeds 15.

  • Transformer Repair Unit (TRU) : This unit was inaugurated on February 2nd, 2006 with an objective to detect & analyze defects in transformers which fail during impulse testing so that the transformer design can be improved. This unit has also taken up the repairs of old distribution transformers from agencies like MPSEB, MES, PWD, etc.

Scholarships and prizes

The central and state governments have sanctioned around 14 stipends and scholarships to ST/SC students. The students who are toppers in their branches in the seventh semester are awarded a gold medal.

Cultural and technical activities

The college annually organizes a national level technical cum cultural fest called "Aureole" which means the light behind the darkness.

Aureole'10 was one of the biggest technical cum cultural fests of central India. It had more than 52 technical and cultural events including the biggest "Moshpit 1.0" Rock Band Competition with 15 bands from all over India. In 2010, Euphoria band performed on the professors' night.

Padma Shri and Grammy Award winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt performed on April 9, 2012.
