Hello, last year one of Wikipedia team deleted an entire wiki page entry I created for an artist that I represent.
Please advise how to create the same page again without any cancellation from Wikipedia admin team.

    Redirect Issue

    I am a wikipedian who edits in malayalam wikipedia. There were 2 existing templates namely ഫലകം:Requested move and ഫലകം:പേരുമാറ്റുക. I recently deleted all the contents of the template ഫലകം:പേരുമാറ്റുക and I redirected that template to ഫലകം:Requested move. But currently, in the pages that were linked to ഫലകം:പേരുമാറ്റുക is showing the message REDIRECT ഫലകം:Requested move and not the contents of the template ഫലകം:Requested move. I tried to clear the cache of both the templates but in vain. Please note that the word ഫലകം means template in english. Adithyak1997 (talk) 07:24, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    I need to change the page name

    Hello! There's a mistake in the name at title of my faculty (must be "Faculty of Engineering Management", but instead we have "Faculty of Management Engineering").     @Patni.Aditya: on the assumption this relates to Draft:Kyvos Insights the review notice contains the information that it could be up to 8 weeks before it is considered for acceptance. In the meantime some useful links have been left at your talk page and you should study those carefully and improve the article accordingly. References should be placed inline at the point in the text they refer to. The article could be seen as promotional (which will mean it is very likely to be rejected) and some minor adjustment may be necessary. If you have a connection to the company you must read WP:COI and WP:PAID and make any necessary disclosures. Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Thank you.     Reminders to self?

    From time to time I propose things on talk pages (or similarly via, say, Mergeto/Mergefrom templates on articles) with the intention of going ahead at a suitable future time, typically a few days or a couple of weeks. (Unless, of course, there is debate whose consensus is against.) Very often, there is no feedback whatsoever; this I would intend to interpret as tacit approval to proceed. But... then it slips my all-too-human mind and I forget to follow up.

    Is there some sort of reminder-to-self function that can be set to notify me that the intended period has elapsed? It might be something like "{{remind-me|period=7days}}". Feline Hymnic (talk) 12:36, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Thanks. I was wondering if there was a more formal, common mechanism, generically useable, that could issue notifications, like when a "thank" is issued from a revision-history page, or when a {{reply|UserFoo}} is done. The delivery mechanism would be something like the notification. Its trigger (driven from MediaWiki software perhaps?) would be after a specified time-delay.
    My day-job involves software development (including a few major open-source projects) and taking ideas, perhaps from users, and if deemed useful then generalising them and implementing them. This "remind me in a few days" idea just seems potentially quite useful to many users.
    If it (or something similar) is not already available, where might I propose it, please?

    How do I uncreate an article

    @Carptrash: I've deleted it for you. In the future, you can use {{db-self}} to delete a page that only you've substantially edited. I can also move it to a user page for you, like User:Carptrash/List of murals in the United States, if you'd like (although this is somewhat dependent on when you get back to me, when I see this message, etc).     Question about adding a business profile listing

    I run a wellness publication called The Hearty Soul and am looking to create a presence on Wikipedia for our site similar to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_York_Times https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Washington_Post

    We are a relatively young publication and are looking to create a profile for reference purposes and to document our growth and milestones as opposed to advertising. I know that wikipedia has strict anti-advertising policies so would like some guidance on te best way to move forward.

    @Moq.hasan: I've yet to use a use of the phrase "create a presence" that wasn't a euphemism for promotion. I am willing to believe that you sincerely believe these are somehow different things and that you seem to misunderstand what Wikipedia is and how it works.
    Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that cites, summarizes, and paraphrases professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources that are independent of the topic but still specifically about it. Wikipedia is not a directory, we don't do "profiles." Our articles about the New York Times and the Washington Post were not written by nor for employees of those publications.
    We also don't hold back on what reliable sources say about a topic. That would mean we would have to include criticism of the publication (and given that kind of criticism, the discretionary sanctions for alternative medicine and pseudoscience would apply to any attempts to edit the article).

    @Ian.thomson, Thanks for clarifying. I clearly have misunderstood the basis for Wikipedia and I appreciate your clarification. I assumed that the listings for New York Times was created by the organization themselves. Regarding your point about using the term "we" - I am referring to myself and my staff that work on the site. Having said that, I am aware of the mediabiasfactcheck review and I am in the process of addressing the rating given to the Site.

    Oh, @Moq.hasan: I found another reliable source about your publication. If I could find one more, I might be able to start a stub article that reads something like:

    The Hearty Soul is a clickbait[1] site noted for spreading pseudoscience,[2] especially pseudoscience related to Alternative medicine.[1][2] In 2016, it presented an Indian satirical news story about a fisherman surviving in a whale's stomach for three days as true, from whence it spread to other Fake news sites.[1] Noted pseudomedicine advocate Joseph Mercola is featured prominently on the site.[2]

    Adding a new category?

    WP currently has an Age Controversies category "for people for whom there are, or have been disagreements and discrepancies regarding dates of birth and death." Would it be worthwhile to add a category called Birthplace Controversies for biographies of those whose country of birth is/was disputed? e.g. Peter Wyngarde, Merle Oberon, Carlos Gardel, etc. (I don't think such a category currently exists.) --Muzilon (talk) 03:58, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Sounds good to me, except don't capitalize "controversies". It would also be worthwhile to create Category:Birthplace or Category:Birthplaces and make your creation a subcategory of that and either Category:Controversies or Category:Historical controversies.     You should really try it yourself. It's pretty easy. Just type "Category:Birthplace controversies" in the search box. You'll get the message "You may create the page 'Category:Birthplace controversies'". Just click on the redlink. After that, it's almost the same as an article (you have created an article before, right?). You can add categories and an optional sentence or two explaining your inclusion criteria and press the Publish page button. Presto!     I can envisage concerns being raised about "is disputed" vs. "was disputed".     That was one of the reasons I suggested the category name should be Birthplace controversies. As with Age controversies, it avoids the "is/was" problem. Carlos Gardel is another example. It looks like the English-language Wikipedia is solidly on the side of France as his birthplace, whereas the Spanish-language Wikipedia is still giving equal weight to France and Uruguay.--Muzilon (talk) 10:49, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Is the information from the Original Scrolls and the multitude of bibles translations accepted ?": As any material or article being added to Wikipedia requires to be verified necessarily by reliable sources, the answer to your question depends upon the context in which you'll use the information. On the face of it, the sources you mention seem to be primary, and should be broadly avoided; and if used, then only with absolute discretion. See WP:PRIMARY for more details.
    4. "Is the revelation from Our Creator Holy Spirit which can be proved in real existent fact accepted ?": Well, this seems like original research, which Wikipedia articles and material should not be based upon. See Wikipedia:No original research for more information on this.

    Maybe because you're a pc reviewer and the page is under pc protection, that you were suggested to review the revision. Otherwise, I don't know but the software didn't ask me to review the revision when I added the same change; I am not a reviewer. This is just a blind guess; someone else may have a better answer.     Problems editing table

    I want to edit the list of Jean Sibelius' compositions (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_compositions_by_Jean_Sibelius) by adding works that are missing. I want to use Live Editor, as I find source editing too complicated. But it seems I'm doing something wrong - I select the top row, click on the left arrow and then I select 'Insert below'. After inserting the information into the table, everything looks fine when I preview, but after publishing my changes, the table is somehow re-formatted so that the line below the one I just added is merged with that line.     It's not a table, it's a collection of templates inside a containing template. Each row is a separate entry of the {{Classical composition row}} template. Each new entry requires a new template to be inserted. If you look at the code, what is actually happening will be clearer than my explanation. - X201 (talk) 11:28, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    @Eliasnoreland: The above means List of compositions by Jean Sibelius#List of compositions is not suited for VisualEditor. You can use the source editor and follow the existing format. If you want to insert a new row then I suggest to start by copying the template code which generates one of the existing rows. Then you can just change the parameters.     Hey Serial, how are you doing? I'm not quite clear about your query. If you know the name of the bot, and if the bot main page does not have enough information about its master, then you can visit Category:Approved Wikipedia bot requests for approval and search out the bot's original approval page for more information.     • Users can specify their username when they run the bot, which will then appear in the edit summary. (This feature was re-enabled this week; it will be lacking from older edit summaries.) Shy users can choose not to do so (in which case it will display "activated by a user") or to specify someone else's username (though the bot does check that the username is a valid user before re-printing it).     I'm not aware of an API that allows third parties to obtain and validate a user's Wikipedia credentials.     Hello Noble. Such lists are usually confined to subjects who are "notable" in the special sense used by Wikipedia, which means there either is already, or plausibly could be, a free-standing Wikipedia article about them.
    In this (your) case, Noble, this means that an actual or potential article would have to meet the requirements of Wikipedia:ENTERTAINER, and be based on multiple extended decriptions of you published in Reliable sources such as (though not limited to) academic or professional journals, or reputable magazines or newspapers. Mere inclusions in cast lists, or passing mentions in reviews, for example, are insufficient to confirm "notability" even though they may be sufficient to corroborate specific facts. Every single fact mentioned needs to be referenced by an in-line citation to a reliable source.
    I myself am not sufficiently expert in this field to judge whether or not you are likely to be "notable" in this sense, and since, like all Wikipedia editors, I am a spare-time volunteer working only on what I choose, I'm not going to undertake an attempt at an article about you, but with any luck someone else will be interested in doing so.
    Please note, however, that you yourself (or anyone directly associated with you), should not do so, because of our policies explained in Wikipedia:Autobiography, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Paid.     Draft:DexYP is once more in the queue for review. If it is still in its current state when it gets reviewed, it will certainly be rejected. Some faults are:
    • It uses ™ and ® symbols, against Wikipedia policy.
    • It contains many direct external links. These are not permitted in the body of Wikipedia articles.
    • It cites no references. Several references to reliable independent published sources which discuss the company will be needed, to establish that it is notable. This is the most serious problem, and may be the hardest to address. I recommend that you read Help:Referencing for beginners.

Wikipedia does not care what you know (or what I know, or what any random person on the Internet knows). It only cares what reliable sources, mostly ones independent of the subject, have said about the subject. Which independent reliable published source says that "[i]n the 2000s, the company began offering digital search marketing services"? If there is one, cite it. If there isn't one, remove the claim. Which independent reliable published source has descrbied Thryv as the company's "flagship" offering? No Wikipedia article should ever use such evaluative language in Wikipedia's voice, but only when quoting a reliable published source.

    When you click onto the link for bassist Keith Christopher, it takes you to a link about an actor Keith Christopher, who died in 1998. That is NOT the same Keith Christopher as the current bass guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyd, who joined the band last year (2017).

    • By erdo can, apart from what S Philbrick says, you need to get ipblock exempt status on the English Wikipedia separately for your VPN to work here (because despite your global ipblock exempt status, the English Wikipedia can still block – and would have effectively – your VPN addresses). I know this is a Catch 22 situation (how can you apply for ip block exempt status on the English Wikipedia if you can't edit here?), but that's the conclusion that was reached the last time another poster from another country that had blocked Wikipedia came here.     It's an unfortunately ambiguous name - it's not a global exemption, but an exemption from global blocks (and Tor blocks which are usually global), and Lourdes is right that we'll probably have locally blocked the IPs.     missing article and deletion log

    Hi I was looking for our think tanks founder Pakistani Canadian actor and political strategists Azmi Haq's wiki page. His Wikipedia page has gone missing and I have also not been able to locate it in the deletion logs. When I click on the Azmi Haq link through the Salon Camden wiki page it states that the article I am looking for does not exist. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salon_Camden Should I create a brand new page or is there a way to revive it?

    Is my submission 'important' enough for a wiki?

    Hello! My name is Chase, and I was interested in making a wiki for my original character, Kaos. He's quite popular on the Marvel Amino, and if you search up his real name (Ausar Villahus) he even shows up on Google! I was still confused if it would be considered acceptable though, because only around 200+ people have given him a 'like' on the app. This is still considered a lot though in my mind because he happens to be the highest liked OC on the amino.     Since the article looked to be well sourced I reverted the edit. The lead where Kjhfcbkk's editing took place doesn't necessarily have to be sourced, even though it had one, as it is a general introduction to the subject. The rest of the article appeared to have adequate citations. So the comment about it not being sourced didn't look right to me, so took it to be vandalism.     How to find all templates with specific string as part of parameter?

    I was editing the page Pyongyang International Airport and see the coordinate template in the article used to say {{coord|39|13|26|N|125|40|12|E|region:NK|display=inline,title}}. NK is not a correct region for North Korea and KP should be the correct one so I changed that. But how can I search among all articles with Template:coord and find out which of them still have region:NK as label? Note that because of the structure of the template, region:XX might only be part of instead of being the entire string for the template when other similar kind of descriptions also applies.     Lists with show / hide tables -- edit ?s

    Hello and thanks -- The List of third party performances in United States elections is rich in information about elections, with tables organized as hide / show options. As presently formatted, the page shows a long column of "[show]" with blank captions. I looked at editing but the source code has various complications that I could not easily resolve at mw:Manual:Collapsible elements. When I switched to Visual editor from the Source editor, naively hoping for clarity, alas the Visual editor shows a caption for each hidden table.

    Hi GeeBee60, take a look at this section of the article now - is this what you mean? I added the captions in this edit, and I can do it to the rest of the page as well. Previously the tables weren't set to have any kind of caption, but I'm not sure why it looks different when using the visual editor.
    As for the technical explanation (speaking in source editing terms here), adding |+ ''Caption here'' to the beginning of a table will add a caption that is visible even when the table is hidden. For this article, previously, the header of the table that contained the text "Notable Third Party Gubernatorial Performances," was a normal table row that was spanned across multiple columns, rather than an actual caption, making the header disappear when the table is hidden. Tables are quite difficult to edit when using the visual editor, particularly with more advanced coding such as this. Let me know if you have any more questions about this.     @Netv: You have been blocked due to your username. First of all, you have a conflict of interest, meaning that you should not edit the article directly - if you have constructive changes you wish to be made, you may use the {{request edit}} template on the article's talk page. There is no reason for us not to use your trademark to refer to your company in an encyclopedic article. You do not own the article, and removing the content found at NETV is considered disruptive.     The account was created, that much can be seen from the logs, but I’m afraid it’s more or less impossible for us normal users to determine with any certainty why your password might not be working. I’d try that temp one again, and if it still doesn’t work request another one. If I recall those temp passwords are time-specific, you have to use them right away. Sorry we can’t be of more help but we can’t see the password interface and obviously you should never be posting details of your password, so there’s only so much we can do from here.     How to edit my article's title and opening paragraphs

    With Nick Moyes's kind help I have developed my article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patients_and_public_involvement_(PPI).

    Around the New Year I asked Nick how to change the title by deleting the first two words and changing the PPI to PI (as the field's name has changed); I would also like to minorly edit the opening text (before the Contents box) but it shows no "edit" hotspot.

    I'd much appreciate help in either or both regards, please!

    Eric Deeson: it's unclear what the article is meant to be about. The opening sentence says "Public involvement, or PI, is a UK National Health Service initiative"; but most of the body of the article, and most of the sources cited, are about "public involvement" in its everyday sense.     @Doug Weller: Another cause of problems might be several broken or manually created user signatures in old posts, which could prevent these specific threads from getting archived.     A little guide on analysing Wikipedia text locally

    I am trying to create a database for word usages in sentences. So, at first I went to the dump page, and downloaded the XML file. It was very large (14 GB compressed), but I managed to open the first few hundreds megabytes of it and take a look at it. It was not that difficult to understand by eyes, but with all the special marks etc, extracting a plain, human-readable sentences (and then I will extracts words from them to create maps) would take me a lot of coding.

    So, I thought I could use existing code to save time. There was a .NET project (I prefer .NET/C#), but its Git page showed that it is an SQL dump parser. And I am not sure where I can download the equivalent SQL dump for the XML I had downloaded. I do not need pictures, history, or other meta data; I just need the article text (including the title, categories).
