Banon is a fictional character in the video game ''Final Fantasy VI''.

Banon was the leader of the Returners, a resistance group that opposed the Empire, rulled by Emperor Gestahl. The party first encounters Banon after traveling through Mt. Koltz and reaching the Returners’ hidden mountain base. When Banon is made aware of Terra’s ability to use magic, he is overly eager to persuade Terra to join the Returners cause, going as far as to call her the “last ray of hope” for an end the the Empire’s quest for domination. Briefly, Banon is a playable character, after the escape from the Returner’s Hideout on the Lete River raft. His Health ability(akin to Edgar’s ‘Tool’ and Cyan’s ‘Blitz’) proves very useful in the time Banon is playable. Prior to this, the player(as Terra) must decide whether or not to accept Banon’s heavy proposal of aiding the Returners in their fight; if she(the player) refuse three times, Banon awards Terra with a Genji Glove, one of Final Fantasy VI’s most valuable Relics.

During the battle in the snowy Narshe mountains, where Kefka and his troops come to claim the esper Tritoch, Banon serves as a “general” for the player’s parties. If any of Kefka’s forces reach Banon, the player must start over from their last save point.

Following this, Banon convinces the neutral leader of the coal-mine city, Narshe, to ally his people with the Returners. He remains here until after the esper attack on the Imperial city of Vector, when Banon, Arvis and the other Returners arrive in the capital to witness the destruction. It is assumed that Banon and the other Returners were killed, along with the entire city of Vector, after Kefka realigned the Statues and destroyed the World of Balance. He is not seen again after his appearance in Vector.

Banon appears as a muscularly built, older man with a full mane of brown, greying hair, and a full mustache and beard. He wears flowing green and red robes.
