The News-Sentinel is one of two major newspapers based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Under a joint operating agreement with the other major newspaper in the market, the Journal Gazette, The News-Sentinel is delivered in the evenings, while the Journal Gazette, is delivered in the mornings. The News-Sentinel is owned by Knight Ridder, the second largest newspaper corporation in the United States. History
The News-Sentinel traces its origins to 1833, when The Sentinel was established as a weekly paper. In 1918, The Sentinel merged with another local paper, The Fort Wayne Daily News, to form The News-Sentinel. In 1980, Knight Ridder bought The News-Sentinel.
