Edit summary

Hi there. When you make edits to articles, could you please provide an edit summary? A short thing like "+he", if you put a Hebrew link, would be very helpful and would save lots of time to people who have that page on the watchlist. Thanks and happy editing! Interwiki order

Hi Haham - nice that you're adding interwiki links, may I point out though that Finnish (fi:) is 'Suomi', so is alphabetically listed under 's', not 'f'. Thanks - MPF 16:26, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi Haham - unfortunately I don't have a full list; the best thing to do is see if they appear in alphabetical oder in the saved version. With non-Latin alphabets it is inevitably difficult; the ones reasonably similar to Latin like Cyrillic and Greek are fairly easy to fit in, but I'm less sure about e.g. the various Chinese languages. It might be worth asking on the community portal for suggestions - MPF 10:25, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Virtual reality

A new user, who seems to be someone called Philip Zhai, has created a Philip Zhai article, and had added a paragraph to the Virtual reality page about Zhai and his book. I've removed his addition for the moment, as vanity-advertising, but if you have more expertise, perhaps you could check it, and replace the material if I'm wrong. Thanks for your reply. I was a bit worried that I was overreacting, and that this person was in fact as important as he makes out. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 09:46, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I'm afraid some money designs are not in the public domain. The art and designs on Euros, for example, are copyrighted. I've reverted your change to the template for that reason - no offense. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 19:56, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

Brookie here - I've done a major fix to this page and removed your clean up tag - kind regards Brookie 13:44, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I'm no longer watching that article. If you want things to be changed, you should post on the talk page about it and try to get admins to change the content for you, because I don't think it's going to be unprotected for a while. --brian0918™ 21:04, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hebrew Wikipedia

Hello. First, Eranb came to me with a number of charges against you. I dismissed one of them, that you handle your user page inappropriately to manipulate your user page's Google standing. I told him that a user page is a user page, and a user is free to do whatever he wishes. Second, Eranb claims that you have acted as a troll on the Hebrew Wikipedia, including posting pornographic pictures on the Main Page. I know that many of your contributions have to do with pornography, and that's okay; I don't care about the subject(s) of your edits. Naturally, I asked Eranb for proof of your negative actions. He only redirected me to the Hebrew Wikipedia. I can not read Hebrew, and he guessed this, so he suggested I asked Danny for help. I did. I trust Danny as a third party; he told me the following:

According to that page [your user page on the Hebrew Wikipedia], which contains a list of charges against Haham Hanuka, he would be most inappropriate as an admin. He has vandalized the Hebrew Village Pump and put pornographic content on the main page, among other things.

This made me hesitant to continue my support of your self-nomination for adminship. Please don't take it personally. --Merovingian (t) (c) 01:50, Apr 28, 2005 (UTC)

According to Wikipedia:How to write a Wikipedia article on Mathematics#Typesetting of mathematical formulas, formulas should be italic, not bold. Also, when you revert something, and if you do it for the second time, you could provide an explanation. Oleg Alexandrov 20:03, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Stop changing the article and claiming the changes are made according to the talk page when all you've done on the talk page is say "I want to change X to Y" and not explained at all why those changes should be made. This is at least the third time you've tried making these changes while ignoring everyone. I'm pretty sure you know you're bypassing the talk page, and leaving purposely dubious edit summaries. Do you really want the admins on the English Wikipedia to consider you a troll as well? --brian0918™ 17:39, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Kazaa

Please stop adding mirror sites to the list of official KL home pages. There are thousands of mirrors for every KL version ever released, none of them belong on that page. Besides that, the first mirror you added (the Japanese) is questionable in that it illegally contains a beta version of Kazaa Lite Resurrection which hasn't been released. IDF Chiefs of Staff articles

Shalom Haham: As you can see at: History of the Israel Defense Forces#List of Chiefs of the General Staff, there are no articles about six (out of 18) of the Israel Defense Forces' Chiefs of Staff: (1) Dan Shomron (1987-1991); (2) Moshe Levi (1983-1987); (3) Mordechai Gur (1974-1978); (4) David Elazar (1972-1974); (5) Tzvi Tzur (1961-1963); (6) Chaim Laskov (1958-1961). Are you able to provide some history and information about them? Thank you. IZAK 11:10, 22 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IZAK (and everyone else here :), Do you think it's time to create Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Israel similar to Wikipedia:Wikiportal/India, Wikipedia:Wikiportal/New Zealand and other Category:Wikiportals? I'm writing this here because it was you who made those wonderful templates and we don't have a portal yet where we could communicate. What do you think? • Hi Humus, it's only me here, but I will pass your message on to "everyone". Yes, your suggestion is excellent, it is certainly time for what you describe, but I have no experience with Wikipedia portals, and if you know how, go ahead and start an Israel portal and I am sure editors of Israel-related articles will support you and join in the effort/s. Edit summary

I see you are putting a lot of Hebrew links recently, which is a good thing. I would like to ask you a favor. Would you mind providing an edit summary? I know that what you are doing is minor edits, but still, a thing like "+he" would do so much towards clarifying what you change. This would save the time for people checking the diffs. Thanks. Categories

Hiya, if an article is the main article in a category it should be listed under a space, rather than an asterisk (e.g. [[category:article| ]]). I've been making some articles appear in the correct place; please don't then change the space to an asterisk. Talrias (t | e | c) 16:51, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

You may have your "minor edits" preference turned on. Edits that correct spelling or formatting are generlaly considered minor, while anything that actually changes content is considered major. See Wikipedia:Minor edit. Cheers, -Willmcw 16:02, Jun 4, 2005 (UTC)

Female Porn Stars

Hello, I received your message about female porn stars who perform girl/girl scenes and have to say that I disagree with you. I believe that anybody who has sex with a member of their own sex, whether it is on film or not, is gay, lesbian or bisexual. I will not add any more of the porn stars to that category as I really don't plan to add to that category at all now.

I have a list that I got of gay, lesbian or bisexual people because that is something that I believe is a sin against God. I also have a list of people in other activities I believe are sins against God. I only went through this list and added people to that category because I stumbled upon it during my searches through Wikipedia. I won't add any more since it caused you a problem.

I still believe that they are members of that category though. Thank you for your opinion. Your porn star entries are safe from me.

Nazis

As I explained, I reverted you because your edit was absurd - it was poorly written and the content was garbage. john k 16:47, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Murder and/or assassination

You seem to first have put a POV tag on the Anna Lindh article, then removing all instances of "murder" and related words in it, changing them to "assassination" and "killed". Although perhaps not a major issue, I would like you to explain your line of reasoning, since I can't really see why "murder" would be in any way POV. In fact, I find the use of the word "assassination" (which I know was already present in the article before your edits) at least slightly questionable in this case.

The dictionaries I've checked simply defines "murder" as "deliberate and unlawful killing" or somesuch, and "assassination" as "murder for political reasons". As far as I can judge this makes assassinations a subset of murders, making it possible to use both words for stylistic variation when discussing an "assassination". In cases of murder for political reasons, none of the terms seems POV to me. However, in the Lindh case, it seems to me that it could actually be claimed that the term "assassination" is POV. Swedish law do not distinguish the two, and Mijailovic was found guilty of murder (mord). He has not talked about his motives, and despite speculation, their nature remain somewhat unclear. The use of "assassination" seems to imply a certainty they were political, and however much we believe it to be so, this has in my opinion not been fully established. / Alarm 15:42, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

KKK and terrorism

I want to let you know that I consider your behavior regarding the KKK article somewhat discourteous and pushy. There was a detailed discussion going on about this on the article's talk page, which you ignored. Your message to me on my user talk page was not helpful, since the page it referred me to did not appear to have any discussion of the KKK, and in any case, the place to discuss the KKK article is on its own talk page. I have better things to do with my time than get into revert wars, and I would rather continue doing more substantive work on the article. However, I would ask that you step back and take a look at whether the way you approached this was in keeping with the kind of collegial atmosphere that wikipedia should foster.--Bcrowell 15:14, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Haham hanuka - It looks like you challenged the accuracy of this article. You have challenged without presenting any reason and by marking as "m" a minor change. Please change inaccuracies in the article, provide areas of challenge or remove dispute notice. --Hunfe 8 July 2005 19:36 (UTC)

I notice that u've tagged a number of articles on terrorism as POV. Please note that if you don't state any concrete reasons for doing so, the tags will be removed. --{{IncMan|talk}} 04:20, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, we've been removing many "terrorism" and "terrorist" categories because of POV, which is a concrete reason. --Kbdank71 15:06, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

CFD

Hi, I noticed you've been adding the cfd tag to several categories, which is fine, but adding the tag doesn't add the category to WP:CFD for discussion. Please remember that this needs to be done also. If you need help with this, just let me know, I'll explain how to do it. Thanks! --Kbdank71 15:06, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In order to be listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion, an article has to meet one ore more of these criteria:

 1. Is not suitable for Wikipedia (see WP:NOT)
 2. Original research (including the coining of neologisms)
 3. Inappropriate user pages in excessive or stubborn cases
 4. Vanity page
 5. Advertising or other spam
 6. Hoax
 7. Completely idiosyncratic non-topic

If you see that the article qualifies under one of these models, then complete the VfD listing process by following the instructions at "How to list pages for deletion". --AI 07:48, 6 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In case you havent already seen, you're last edit on Israeli terrorism was reverted by El C because Essjay closed the vfd in favor of keeping the article on August 7th, 2005. Thought you should know. :)freestylefrappe 19:06, August 8, 2005 (UTC)

Miranda

Hello. Why did you tag Image:Miranda1.png as GFDL? Isn't the logo likely to be GPL since the software is GPL? Angela. 11:45, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

I thought that GPL is a license for software and not to documents, it makes sense that a screenshot of software that licensed under GPL will licensed under the GFDL. --Haham hanuka 16:45, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No, that isn't the case unless the logo has been explicitly released as GFDL since the logo is part of the software, not the documentation. Angela. 14:41, August 25, 2005 (UTC)

Please don't mark non-minor edits as minor

A VfD/AfD tag is definitely not a minor change; neither is deleting major sections of text. Marking these things as minor is not good practice. -- Antaeus Feldspar 08:26, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
