MILHIST Military Aviation questionnaire
This is a short questionaire I am conducting to give me an idea of what others would like the task force to achieve and their capabilities that might contribute positively to the task force. The four questions of this questionaire are:
- What are your strengths on Wikipedia?
- Which four military aviation articles would you like to see be promoted to at least GA?
- What detailed resources (books, journals, etc) about military aviation do you have access to? Please provide the publications' authors, titles and ISSNs/ISBNs.
- Which three military aviation articles are you wiling to provide assistance? This can be expansion, copyediting, reference formatting, etc.
Please reply by pasting the following below the previous user's comments before filling it out with specific examples for points 2 and 4.

Pleased to meet you, and thanks for contacting me for this valuable initiative! As I'm very busy currenmtly in "real life", it will take me some time to gather the details on the sources I have (they're in "long-term" storage and not at hand); maybe I'll have some time over the Xmas break. When do you need the full questionnaire responded, please? Regards,DPdH (talk) 06:11, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- My strengths
- Historical research
- Articles I'd like to see the task force improve
- Sources which I have
- Bristow, Mark. (2005) A History of Royal Air Force Northolt. RAF Northolt: No. 1 AIDU
- Articles I'm willing to provide assistance
- Royal Air Force stations
- My strengths
- I have some deeper knowledge of aviation subjects relating to Finland, to a somewhat lesser degree I am also interested in German, Russian/Soviet and Nordic aviation subjects. I have also tried to follow up on new aircraft projects. I know several languages so I can also translate entire articles or paragraphs from other language wikipedias. I have been a wikipedian for quite a long time, and currently I am an administrator on enwp (I have also had oversight and admin rights on other language wp's). I used to work with smaller code-writing projects such as creating infoboxes and such but this has diminished due to time constraints.
- Articles I'd like to see the task force improve
- Finnish Air Force and its aces
- Warsaw Pact air forces
- Generally air force history from the cold war period, most articles have neglected sections on this time period
- Editing many of the articles involving Italian aircraft. These have lots of information, but are in many cases poorly written (the same is rquired also of French Navy ships, but this is not of interest here).
- Sources which I have
- Too many to mention, I have quite a lot of printed resources, but most are currently stored in Finland (I am spending 95% of my time in Norway and Germany due to my work)
- I like to think that I also have skills for finding necessary information from different resources other than printed books (contacts, electronic references and snippets of information from available electronic publications etc)
- Articles I'm willing to provide assistance
- I suspect that my future contributions will mostly involve Finnish Air Force-related subjects, as most of the avaition articles outside my scope (see question 1) now have reached a certain level of maturity. I am not sure I can devote so much time to the project that I could contribute to more to these in any significant manner. I do know what is expected from a new aircraft article, and if I stumble upon one that doesn't live up to the standards I will try to do the necessary work to improve it.
- My strengths
- Israeli Air Force, Israeli aviation and aerial warfare in the Middle East.
- Articles I'd like to see the task force improve
- Israeli Air Force
- Arab Air Forces
- Everything about the Dassault Mirage III
- Air force histories are generally neglected
- Sources which I have
- Numerous sources about the Israeli Air Force and Arab-Israeli air wars, plus assorted military aviation titles.
- Articles I'm willing to provide assistance
- Anything really, though I think I can best contribute to articles about aerial warfare in the Middle East. Not limited to Arab-Israeli though, but also WWII, Suez Crisis and other conflicts.
- My strengths Aircraft, Aviation history, Miltary aviation, Gliders / gliding, Aero-engines
- Articles I'd like to see the task force improve
- Sources which I have
- A wide range of books including Janes AWA, Putnams (most of them). The Red Star series from Midland Publishing (Russian/Soviet aircraft),
- Aircraft weapons books, Aero-engine books, Aircraft manufacturer books
- Articles I'm willing to provide assistance
- Any Aviation related
- I'm a Flickr poweruser and can find or request photos on any topic.
- Articles I'd like to see the task force improve
- Sources which I have
- Google News sections like this one are easy to set up. This one is about fighter aircraft [1]
- Also a stack of Boeing's Frontiers magazine dating back to May 2002.
- Articles I'm willing to provide assistance
- F-35 Lightning II
- Sukhoi PAK FA
- American UAVs
- I actually have a BA in History. That should count for something.
- Articles I'd like to see the task force improve
- Grumman F-14 Tomcat
- VFA-103
- Any article included in this book Book_talk:United_States_Navy_Aircraft_Squadrons
- Sources which I have
- Not sure. Will have to check.
- Articles I'm willing to provide assistance
- Grumman F-14 Tomcat
- VFA-103
- Any article included in this book Book_talk:United_States_Navy_Aircraft_Squadrons
- Potentially any other if I'm able and you ask nicely.
- My strengths
- Teen Series fighters; most US, some European and some Soviet/Russian aircraft from 1970s to present.
- Articles I'd like to see the task force improve
- Grumman A-6 Intruder, LTV A-7 Corsair II, Douglas A-4 Skyhawk
- Lockheed A-12, Lockheed YF-12, especially SR-71 Blackbird
- Boeing 737 AEW&C
- See User:Fnlayson#Long term for some others
- Sources which I have
- Many of the Warbird Tech book series
- Encyclopedia of Modern Military Aircraft and other encyclopedia/directory books
- See User:Fnlayson#Sources for a summary of what I have.
- Articles I'm willing to provide assistance
- The above mentioned items. I will try to help with others if asked and am available.
A class medal nomination
Hi Phil, Thanks for closing the Air raids on Japan ACR and nominating me for the A class medal. I should note however that I'm up for the A-Class medal with Oak Leaves as this would be the sixth time I've received this award (see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history/Awards/ACR/Archive 2#Nick-D). Regards, and happy new year, Nick-D (talk) 07:20, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- Corrected; sorry for the mistake, and have a wonderful and productive new year. --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 07:23, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
