Umbreon: Difference between revisions

Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokémon, is somewhat cat-like with black fur, red eyes, and yellow rings on its head, ears, legs, and tail. It stands 1 m (3 ft 3 in) tall and weighs 27 kg (60 lb). It first appeared in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver as the only pure Dark type Pokémon in the game. Umbreon is one of the strongest evolutions of Eevee.

As a Dark type, Umbreon is offensively strong against Psychic and Ghost type Pokémon and defensively weak against Fighting and Bug types. Eevee will evolve into Umbreon if it is happy at night.

Name Origin

If one splits up the name, one gets "umbra" and "eon." An umbra is a shadow or shade. (The word umbrella is related to this word.) "Eon" is hazy, but it might refer to the fact that Eevee is in another "stage," or era of its life (as opposed to the stages of Vaporeon, Flareon, Espeon, and Jolteon).
