Broadcasting of TV2 began in [[1969]]. It offers [[entertainment]] [[Television program|programs]], [[film]]s in [[English language|English]], [[Indian language|Indian]], and [[Chinese language|Chinese]].

TV2, the popular television station from RTM appeared with a new image and a new name called TV2-''The Family Channel'' (Formerly known as ''The Golden Channel''). The launching of TV2 as (The Family Channel) was made on [[August 20]] [[2004]], after the renewing of TV1 that was launched on [[August 4]] when TV1 was changed to ''The Infotainment Channel'' by the Information Minister , Datuk Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir.

As one of government departments, some elements such as [[sex]] and [[violence]] are controlled. With the competition with other increasing [[Commercial broadcasting|commercial]] networks which is expanding, new programs such as Playtime On 2, E-Shoppers, Whassup and Elegance On 2 were introduced to the network. Other than that, for the Chinese viewers, new programs such as Dim Sum Hour, Gallery Phoenix and Chopstick On 2 are presented.

As trying to succeed the renewal of RTM, is an effort to apply the good things to direct to the building of personality to make it stable and accessible to the station recently. Although TV2 is more commercial, it will also do the rights to promote the family values with the variation of programs.

From April 1, 2006, '''TV2''' will renamed as '''RTM2''', its slogan remains; and from April 3, 2006, this channel will go 24-hour broadcast daily, offering more programmes for viewers who stay up late to watch television.

Both RTM1 and RTM2 as well as its 32 radio stations celebrates its 60th Anniversary Bash this year.
