Queen Sinhye of the Jeongju Ryu clan (Hangul: 신혜왕후 류씨, Hanja: 神惠王后 柳氏) was the first wife of King Taejo of Goryeo. As the wife and mother of the new nation, she supported her husband's national affairs with a good plan and received favor and preferential treatment from many people also become his favourite wife.
Biography
She was born to a rich family in Gyeonggi Province. According to legend, Wang Geon as a commander under Gung Ye met a young girl in Jeongju, who was the daughter of village leader. Her father was Ryu Cheon-gung, member of the Jeongju Ryu clan.
In 918, when her husband defeated Gung Ye and was crowned, she became queen. Queen Sinhye distinguished herself by assisting her husband with the establishment of important national policies. They did not have children.
