Ran Takahashi (髙橋 藍, born 2 September 2001) is Japanese male volleyball player. He plays for Nippon Sport Science University's club[1] and Japan men's national volleyball team.
Biography
Ran has some American ancestry through his grandfather and his mother is half Japanese, half German. He also has some British ancestry.[2]
Ran has one brother, Rui Takahashi who is one and a half year older, and one younger sister, Riri Takahashi. He plays volleyball following his brother footsteps and his sister also plays volleyball.[3]
Career
Elementary School years
Ran started playing volleyball in his second grade of elementary school for the school's team.[4]
High School years
Ran played for Kyoto Municipal Hachigaoka Junior High School. At the first grade, he is small so he played mainly as a Libero.
Ran joined Higashiyama High School, and in the third year, he served as the captain and ace of the team and won the 2020 All Japan High School Volleyball Championships or known as "Haruko" which held in winter. In addition, he received the "MVP" award by the end of the competition.[5] Also, he was selected for Japan men's national volleyball team for the first time in February.[6]
College years
After graduating from high school, Ran entered Nippon Sport Science University. He led the team, receiving the runner-up place in the 2020 All Japan Intercollegiate Volleyball Championship and got the "Best Scorer" award from the competition.[7]
