Response to question at Articles for Creation Help Desk

[edit]

Hello again, Nramesh. Your response at the Help Desk is in the process of being moved to an archive, so I thought it better to respond here. As for getting someone to write the article for you, you can always ask (WT:WikiProject Hip hop might be a good place), but I doubt you'll get any offers. Most of us here have our own content to write and it is unlikely that anyone will take time away from their own efforts to work on yours. But I suppose it won't hurt to ask.

Your draft does not seem to be blatantly promotional, but that's true only at first glance. Looking a bit deeper, I see promotional editing coming from your misuse of sources. I didn't look through the entire draft, so there might be more problems than the one that I'm about to describe. And this is the one in the introduction that names a few publications and then tells the reader that your client is "consistently listed ... on their Top 5 Indian rappers list". Not one of your sources actually does this. Indeed, at least one of them specifically limits itself to new, up-and-coming rappers. In a similar vein, although Rolling Stone India does indeed call him one of the "elite" (and that's a good quote to have in the introduction), your write-up suggests that all of the listed sources are saying this. And that simply isn't true. Again, I didn't look through all of the draft. But the existence of this kind of misuse of sources makes me uninclined to look any further.

On a different note, most of the "Early life" section isn't sourced, especially considering that the PepsiMTV link is dead. Unsourced material in a biography of a living person is unacceptable and that material will need to be either sourced or removed.

Finally, you've got far too many photographs for an article of this size. Frankly, the only one you need is the one in the infobox. This is not an article about someone who has lived so long that it makes sense to have photos from different stages of their life. Instead, you've got four photos that were all taken within a year or so of each other. They add nothing to an understanding of the subject and serve only to suggest that you have a promotional agenda.

I hope this feedback is helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll keep this page on my watchlist, so I'll know if you respond here. NewYorkActuary (talk) 16:38, 5 August 2017 (UTC) Dear @NewYorkActuary thank you so much for giving me such insightful feedback. This was my first piece for wikipedia and your feedback was really helpful. I have edited it again keeping in mind all the points you and the other reviewers brought up. I have submitted it again for a review and I hope its better now! But I just wanted to tell you I really appreciate your help and comments. Thank you!
