Kirsti Blom

Kirsti Blom (born 1 May 1953 ) is a Norwegian author , raised in Hov in Søndre Land .

She made her debut at the age of 20 in 1973 with the novel Picture of a Man . Blom has since written several novels, collections of poems and short stories as well as a number of children's books , including non - fiction books about animals and nature in the Polar Series .

In 2007, Kirsti Blom and Kit M. Kovacs were nominated for the Brage Prize for the Polar Bear in the non-fiction class for children. In 2013, she was "longlisted" for the P2 listeners' novel prize for I saw everything . [1]

The novel Kitten from 2003 is the story of a young Norwegian who goes to the Belgian Congo in the year 1900, and undergoes a development from a fairly innocent youth to an oppressor and abuser. [2]

Several of her novels are about artists' relationship to themselves and the world around them. In 2013 she published a novel about the Spanish painter Francisco Goya , [3] and in 2017 came the novel Av jord , which is about the painter Jean and his attempt to withdraw completely from the rest of the world in order to paint true . [4]

Blom lives and writes periodically in Andalucía . Both the novel I Saw Everything (2013) and the collection of poems The First Ordinary Day (2014) draw inspiration from Andalucía and Spain.

Her books have been translated into English, Arabic, Serbian, Macedonian and Spanish. [5]

Kirsti Blom led the foreign work in the Norwegian Writers ' Association when she was a board member there from 1990 to 1996. She has also been a board member of Norwegian PEN from 1994 to 2003, where she was deputy chairman last year. She has since been involved in, among other things, the North Norwegian author team .

Kirsti Blom is also a writer with contributions in newspapers and magazines. She is also an art photographer and has illustrated several of her own books.

Blom has lived in Tromsø and currently lives in Oslo .

Kirsti Blom (født 1. mai 1953) er en norsk forfatter, oppvokst i Hov i Søndre Land.

Hun debuterte 20 år gammel i 1973 med romanen Bilde av et menneske. Blom har siden skrevet flere romaner, dikt- og novellesamlinger samt en rekke barnebøker, deriblant faktabøker om dyr og natur i Polarserien.

I 2007 ble Kirsti Blom og Kit M. Kovacs nominert til Brageprisen for Isbjørnen i klassen Sakprosa for barn. I 2013 ble hun «langlistet» til P2-lytternes romanpris for Jeg så alt.

Romanen Kitten fra 2003 er fortellingen om en ung nordmann som drar til Belgisk Kongo i år 1900, og gjennomgår en utvikling fra nokså uskyldig ungdom til undertrykker og overgriper.

Flere av hennes romaner dreier seg om kunstneres forhold til seg selv og omverdenen. I 2013 utga hun en roman om den spanske maleren Francisco Goya, og i 2017 kom romanen Av jord, som handler om maleren Jean og hans forsøk på å trekke seg fullstendig tilbake fra resten av verden for å kunne male sant.

Blom bor og skriver periodevis i Andalucía. Både romanen Jeg så alt (2013) og diktsamlingen Den første vanlige dagen (2014) henter inspirasjon fra Andalucía og Spania.

Bøkene hennes er oversatt til engelsk, arabisk, serbisk, makedonsk og spansk.

Kirsti Blom ledet utenlandsarbeidet i Den norske forfatterforening da hun var styremedlem der fra 1990 til 1996. Hun har også vært styremedlem i Norsk P.E.N. fra 1994 til 2003, der hun siste år var nestleder. Hun har siden vært engasjert i blant annet Nordnorsk forfatterlag.

Kirsti Blom er i tillegg skribent med bidrag i aviser og tidsskrifter. Hun er også kunstfotograf og har illustrert flere av sine egne bøker.

Blom har bodd i Tromsø og er i dag bosatt i Oslo.
