[1]</ref> Thomas Neil Bakke (February 27, 1926 – December 10, 1964) was an American military officer and highly regarded football player. He played end for the Navy Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy from 1949 - 1950. He was elected captain of the team in 1950 and led the team to a 14-2 victory over Army in one of the biggest upsets in college football history.
