Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Light Art Space (currently a redirect to LAS Art Foundation) → LAS Art Foundation (move · discuss) – In April 2023, Light Art Space changed its name to LAS Art Foundation, which resulted in an extensive rebranding and a new website MW20171 (talk) 14:22, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- That's nice for them. Are the criteria for WP:NAMECHANGES met though? i.e. usage in reliable sources since the change? — Amakuru (talk) 17:53, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- Anderson railway station (Victoria) (currently a redirect to Anderson railway station, Victoria) → Anderson railway station, Victoria (move · discuss) – Consistent disambiguation style with all other Australian railway station articles, e.g. Maryborough railway station, Victoria. Fork99 (talk) 03:33, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- Cantabrian dialect (currently a redirect to Cantabrian language) → Cantabrian language (move · discuss) – Modification made for consistency between articles. All the variants of the Asturleonese language Asturian language, Leonese language, Mirandese language and Extremaduran language are classified as languages, while Cantabrian dialect is classified as a dialect for no reason. Either all the variants of the Asturleonese family are qualified as dialects or all of them are as languages, there is no reason to establish a distinction. As https://glottolog.org/resource/languoid/id/astu1245 states, Asturian, Leonese and Cantabrian are at the same level, the same branch, of the classification, therefore no distinctions are possible. It does not matter in which sense the decision is taken, there must be homogeneity and harmony in the names of these articles. This problem was somehow solved in the Spanish wiki removing the term "language" in all of them since the language word is used for Asturleonese. In the English wiki it remains unsolved. - Black Cake (TV series) → Black Cake (currently a redirect instead to Rum cake) (move · discuss) – No need to disambiguate here NathanielTheBold (talk) 22:44, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- Rum cake is known as black cake. Is DIFFCAPS really enough here? 162 etc. (talk) 04:44, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- Clement of Rome → Pope Clement I (currently a redirect back to Clement of Rome) (move · discuss) – Reverting undiscussed move to standard format for popes. Colonies Chris (talk) 11:15, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- The previous move was not undiscussed, see Talk:Clement of Rome#Requested move 28 April 2022. BegbertBiggs (talk) 12:51, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Cautious support It would be simpler just to treat all popes in the List of popes as "Pope So-and-so" (except Saint Peter who is clearly sui generis). I realise that some might object that many early popes are shadowy and perhaps even unhistorical, whereas Clement is undoubtedly the author of one significant letter. However we could get into all sorts of arguments about whether some other early popes might be treated this way, and at what point we can regard the official history of the RC church as substantially accurate, e.g. Pope Pontian, Pope Siricius? PatGallacher (talk) 22:46, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- Incautious oppose. The WP:COMMONNAME appears to be very strongly in favour of the current name. [1] — Amakuru (talk) 10:50, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- Cà Mau Airport (currently a redirect to Ca Mau Airport) → Ca Mau Airport (move · discuss) – Non-diacritic name, to harmonize with other airport names in Vietnam (see Category:Airports in Vietnam). Đại Việt quốc (talk) 18:00, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- There was a renaming in 2010 to add the diacritics, with an edit summary about consistency with other Cà Mau renames, so this seems like a WP:PCM. — BarrelProof (talk) 20:36, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- @BarrelProof: That's because they were not aware of the fact that almost all of other airport names are still diacriticless. The airport name should be consistent with other airport names, not with other city or town name. This move completely broke the consistency. For example, Buôn Ma Thuột and Buon Ma Thuot Airport, Đồng Hới and Dong Hoi Airport. Why did no one move these two titles to diacritics for consistency with the city names? So the solution here would be: either move all of the others to diacritics, or move these back to diacriticless. I'm fine with either. Đại Việt quốc (talk) 19:02, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

- 2008 City of Melbourne election (currently a redirect to 2008 Melbourne City Council election) → 2008 Melbourne City Council election (move · discuss) – Keeps in line with other election pages (YEAR/PLACE/TYPE) and all other Melbourne City Council election page names Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 12:17, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- "All other" pages are thus named only because the OP moved them in the last day or two. I've reverted those, and suggest this go to a full discussion. If nothing else, the fact that mayoral election is also included means it may be better as it is. — Amakuru (talk) 11:17, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- 2017 Greater Geelong local election (currently a redirect to 2017 Greater Geelong City Council election) → 2017 Greater Geelong City Council election (move · discuss) – Keeps in line with other election pages (YEAR/PLACE/TYPE), more accurate naming Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 12:17, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- per Amakuru, the only reason the other pages are named this way is because you moved all of them as such. Darling ☔ (talk · contribs) 15:19, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
