Names

[edit]

this article as I found it equated Apiaceae with umbelliferae.

however, umbelliferae redirects to the parent of THIS family, which is Apiales! -- Tarquin 16:31 Feb 27, 2003 (UTC)

Good catch. It's actually Apiaceae. I'll fix it. Rei

But when did this name change happened? 15 - 20 years ago when I learned about them, I learned about umbelliferae so it was a surprise for me to find that they are now called apiaceae.89.137.187.148 (talk) 18:09, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Apass[reply]

An automated Wikipedia link suggester has some possible wiki link suggestions for the Apiaceae article, and they have been placed on this page for your convenience.
Tip: Some people find it helpful if these suggestions are shown on this talk page, rather than on another page. To do this, just add {{User:LinkBot/suggestions/Apiaceae}} to this page. — LinkBot 10:40, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Apiaceae reportedly counters the adverse (carcinogenic) properties of aflatoxin

[edit]

The wiki article on aflatoxin mentions Apiaceae and links to this article (which brought me here), yet (at least after a cursory glance over this article) I find no mention of aflatoxin and Apiaceae's role in countering the carcinogens produced by aflatoxin here, and thought it might be worth adding. Suggest this article gets renamed

[edit]

I suggest this article gets renamed as "umbelliferae" as I would suggest that more people probably know this plant family by this name. Many plants in this family, such as celery or carrots, are famous for their bell-shaped tops (hence this name). ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:16, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How about Apiaceae (Umbelliferae)? I guess this might be seen as setting a bad precedent, but surely an exception should be made in this case. Nihola (talk) 19:12, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Since Umbelliferae redirects here, changing the name is unnecessary. Peter coxhead (talk) 14:11, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Good enough. Nihola (talk) 06:07, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Distribution

[edit]

Does anyone know anything about distribution? Are Apiaceae species found on every continent? etc... Hypershock (talk) 04:45, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why is Centella not referenced here since now that Centella is now placed in the Apiaceae family

It is correctly included in List of Apiaceae genera. Peter coxhead (talk) 21:19, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
