John C. P. Goldberg

John C.P. Goldberg is an American legal scholar. He is the Carter Professor of General Jurisprudence at Harvard Law School.[1] Since March 1, 2024, Goldberg has served as the interim dean of Harvard Law School in place of John F. Manning.[2]

Education

Goldberg received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the College of Social Studies at Wesleyan University in 1983. He then attended St Antony's College, Oxford, and obtained a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in politics in 1985. In 1989, Goldberg received a Master of Arts (M.A.) from Princeton University in politics and then a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the New York University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the New York University Law Review.[1]

Goldberg clerked for Judge Jack B. Weinstein of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and Justice Byron White at the U.S. Supreme Court.[1]

Academic career

Goldberg was a professor at the Vanderbilt University Law School and was appointed as its associate dean for research. He joined the faculty of Harvard Law School in 2008, serving as its deputy-dean from 2017 to 2022.[1]

Goldberg is an elected member of the American Law Institute.[3]
