Thanks For Your Edits

Hey FMSKY,

just wanted to say thank you for the edits you have made for me on some of the pages that I have maybe tweaked with new info etc.

I’m relatively new to Wikipedia, so every little helps.

Thanks, MusicalEditor05 MusicalEditor05 (talk) 22:17, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Marie Curie

Marie Curie (1867–1934) was a Polish and naturalised-French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. Born in Warsaw, she studied in Poland until she was 24, when she moved to Paris to earn her higher degrees. In 1895, she married French physicist Pierre Curie, and in 1903 she shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with Pierre and physicist Henri Becquerel for their pioneering work developing the theory of "radioactivity" – a term she coined. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. She won a second Nobel Prize in 1911, the first person to do so, for her discovery of the elements polonium and radium. Under her direction, the world's first studies were conducted into the treatment of neoplasms by the use of radioactive isotopes. During World War I, she developed mobile radiography units to provide X-ray services to field hospitals. She founded the Curie Institute in Paris in 1920, and the Curie Institute in Warsaw in 1932. This photograph of Curie was taken in around 1920 by French photographer Henri Manuel.

Please do not start an edit war. Everything written in the lead has been approved by everyone editing the page; we have already discussed it. A few weeks ago, another user tried to modify the page, calling things "puffery" that were actually backed by academic sources. He was banned, so I strongly advise against engaging in an edit war. It won't lead to anything, and you risk getting banned. Pier1999 (talk) 00:40, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The RFC is still open for comments on the lede. Nothing was decided, so until someone decides to close it, the previous RFC stands. I gave up with it because both yourself and HumansRightsIsCool decided to just change it and bludgeoned the conversation. Knitsey (talk) 00:50, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but until that time, the lead should not be changed. Additionally, we all agree that the sources in the lead are fine. The last person who called the lead "puffery" was banned. Pier1999 (talk) 00:55, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You were suggesting that FMSky, who is a prolific, experienced editor was starting an edit war. Nothing in the lede was approved. The RfC is still open. Nobody should have changed the lede but you both ignored the RfC and changed things to your preferred content. I wouldn't advise accusing someone of edit warring when you didn't bother waiting for consensus. Knitsey (talk) 01:03, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You asked Who tf wrote this in one of your edit summaries. The answer is that there appear to be (as I discovered when I participated in an RFC) two editors who have taken ownership (as were) of the article. One of them undid your changes citing a talk page consensus that doesn't appear to actually exist; this is the editor who added the comment above. As I agree with most of your edits, I reinstated them citing WP:ONUS. I must admit, I'm not confident that will be respected. We will see. Best regards JustAnotherCompanion (talk) 00:58, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unbelievable, they actually banned someone for a month because they removed the academic section, and you still want to continue like this? That part cannot be removed; we've already decided to keep it. Go check the discussions on the page. Pier1999 (talk) 01:03, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your contributions are original research and personal opinions. Even the administrators agree with what's written in the lead. In fact, not long ago, someone dared to call the academic section "puffery" and got banned. Stop this edit war. Pier1999 (talk) 01:05, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
