McKell David (born May 1, 1997) is a British actor. He began his career with a role in the British anthology series Black Mirror in 2011. Following appearances in several crime films, including My Brother the Devil (2012), he gained recognition for his portrayal of Spike in the television series The Irregulars.

Early life

McKell David was born on May 1, 1997 in London.[1] Coming from a multicultural family with roots in Barbados, Italy, Liberia, and Japan.[2] From an early age, he demonstrated a talent for performance, initially showcased through unscripted YouTube videos filmed by his father.[3] He later honed his craft at London's Identity School of Acting.[4] David launched his YouTube show, The Adventures of Lil McKell, at age 12.[5] David reminisced, "Every time I think back to the character "Lil McKell", it's always warm memories. I think that era of YouTube is very nostalgic, alongside the likes of Jazzy, A Squeezy, and myself".[6]

Career

2011–2013: Early roles

David's acting career commenced with a guest appearance in the 2011 British anthology series Black Mirror, created by Charlie Brooker.[7][8] In January 2012, he starred as Demon's Boy in the British crime drama film My Brother the Devil.[9][10] Later that year, he appeared as Rude Schoolboy in the TV series Some Girls.[11] On March 14, 2013, he played Dean in the military drama series Our Girl.[12]

2014–2016: Breakthrough

On February 12, 2014, he starred as Zac Forester in two episodes of Suspects.[13] On December 11, 2014, he portrayed Montana in the action film of the same name.[14] In the movie, David McKell played a 14-year-old drug-runner haunted by crime lord Lazarus, facing death, and was rescued by ex-Serbian Commando Dimitrije.[15]

In October 2015, he starred in the seventeenth series of the British medical drama television series Holby City known as Holby City series 17.[16] He played the part of Lloyd Kramer, appearing on episodes 14 to 19.[17] He also appeared on Don't Grow Up as Liam and on the coming-of-age drama Urban Hymn as Ryan.[18]

On November 7, 2016, he starred as Nathan on the TV film Damilola, Our Loved Boy, alongside Babou Ceesay and Wunmi Mosaku.[19] On January 27, 2017, he appeared on the science fiction superhero film iBoy, playing the role of Hazzard.[20]

2018–present: Patrick and The Irregulars

On June 29, 2018, he played Mikey in the comedy film Patrick.[21] On December 3, 2019, he acted as Youth 2 on the gangster film The Gentlemen.[22][23] On March 26, 2021, he starred as Spike in the British mystery adventure crime drama television series The Irregulars.[24][25]
