If you are here because you think I made a mistake somewhere, YOU COULD BE RIGHT! I am neither omniscient nor infallible. Let's talk about it.
Please be polite and remember to assume good faith. Also check the potty language at the door. I don't talk to other people that way and I expect the same courtesy in return.
While minor editing is fine, for the sake of continuity of records please don't delete comments on my talk page even if you later conclude you were wrong. If you want to retract a comment, just add a note or you can ~~strike out the text~~.
Private emails are welcome. However, in the interest of transparency; requests for administrator actions should generally be made openly either here or on the relevant noticeboard/talk page discussion. Exceptions where commonsense or policy/guidelines may require discretion, are understood.
Special note to admins: If you think I muffed something feel free to revert or otherwise fix it. Just kindly leave a note.
Experienced editors are free to respond to any queries on this page, especially if the message has been sitting for a while without a response.
Lastly, I'm a part-timer, so bear with me if I don't get back to you instantly.

Guideline and policy news

Administrator elections are a proposed new process for selecting administrators, offering an alternative to requests for adminship (RfA). The first trial election will take place in October 2024, with candidate sign-up from October 8 to 14, a discussion phase from October 22 to 24, and SecurePoll voting from October 25 to 31. For questions or to help out, please visit the talk page at Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections.
Following a discussion, the speedy deletion reason "File pages without a corresponding file" has been moved from criterion G8 to F2. This does not change what can be speedily deleted.
A request for comment is open to discuss whether there is a consensus to have an administrator recall process.

Arbitration

The arbitration case Historical elections has been closed.
An arbitration case regarding Backlash to diversity and inclusion has been opened.
Editors are invited to nominate themselves to serve on the 2024 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission until 23:59 October 8, 2024 (UTC).

Hi, not sure if I'm allowed to step in and edit sock templates and categories directly, as a non-admin, but the master account for Rustylad31 is Bigboss19923. Rustylad21 was just the most recent sock, I namechecked it at AIV to emphasise the obviousness.

Triangleprecinct

Hi there, in case you are still around and have time (do prioritise packing your bags, though; this can wait), I don't think that what you've done re User:Triangleprecinct is right. I blocked that user for a user name violation. The template clearly says that such a user has two options:

"create a new account with a different username", or
"If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page"

Hence, if such a user chooses the first option, their new account isn't a sockpuppet. Schwede 66 23:02, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IP Ban

Hello. Ive noticed today that ive been IP Banned for my edits. I found out when my older brother was trying to make an account. I apologise if I sound desperate, but I will never touch any page on Wikipedia and never let myself add information without any proof. I hope I can convince you that this will never happen again. @Tomos.wh Your account is not currently blocked. As I do not know what IP you are using (please don't post that here) I can't comment on the specifics. However, it is possible that it may be caught in a range block due to widespread disruption across a number of IPs. If someone in your household is trying to create an account and unable to do so, tell them to read and follow the directions here.
