Hi everyone! As an editor of the Serbo-Croatian Wikipedia, I just wanted to point out that it is displayed in two scripts—Latin and Cyrillic—using the LanguageConverter. Therefore, I believe the label "Srpskohrvatski" should be changed to "Srpskohrvatski/Српскохрватски," with both words capitalized and no spaces before and after the slash. Thank you for considering my request! – Aca (talk) 11:23, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We do seem to have a wiki with two scripts (:nan:) currently in this list. That feels a bit like it shouldn't be like that however as it gives a bit of undue attention to the one specific wiki.... Izno (talk) 21:55, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Izno: If so, I would support standardizing the label in the primary/prevalent script of the Wikimedia project. That would mean the Uzbek Wikipedia label should be changed to "Oʻzbekcha" to not give undue attention. – Aca (talk) 08:45, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done Well, that was annoying. The multi-script versions are coming from MediaWiki. :( Izno (talk) 23:21, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that this is the template that is what causes the bug, but for some reason the link to Egyptian Arabic Wikipedia has a really small area that you can actually click on, just a few pixels tall as far as I can tell. In case it helps, I am using a chromebook and I am on desktop view.
PS: I also mentioned this on the main page talk page
PSS: I have brought this issue up before but nothing was done. Gaismagorm (talk) 22:24, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot reproduce this issue just eyeballing things with my own cursor on Firefox recent. What browser are you using and what version? Izno (talk) 21:57, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
im using Google chrome, idk what version probably the most recent version. Gaismagorm (talk) 21:58, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Works for me in Chrome 127.0.6xxx. Please let us know: (a) your exact Chrome version. (b) Your screen resolution. Please try to open this page in an "incognito" tab and verify if you have the same symptom. — xaosflux Talk 09:59, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My chrome version is Version 120.0.6099.315 (Official Build) (64-bit) my screen resolution 1366 by 768. Sadly my Chromebook is managed by an organisation, incognito mode is sadly not an option. Also I had someone try it in hardened Firefox on a mobile phone and they had no issues. Gaismagorm (talk) 11:54, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay a friend of mine (the one who helped me figure out my chrome version and screen resolution) has volunteered to try this on a different device using chrome and matching my resolution in a virtual machine, I'll tell you the result soon.
ps: I'm not actually good with tech, someone helped me figure out the technical details of explaining this, hope that doesn't violate any issues on wikipedia. Gaismagorm (talk) 11:58, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
also here's a link to an old discussion I had about this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive_1221#egyptian_arabic_link Gaismagorm (talk) 12:01, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
okay so this gonna sound really weird, but I tried it on a steamdeck. no bug there. also the friend who tried it on hardened Firefox said that polish Wikipedia was the first link, which is weird cause for me it's Egyptian arabic. BTW I'm also using the classic Wikipedia visual style. Gaismagorm (talk) 12:09, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'm gonna log how it works on all visual settings.
vector 2022: same as vector legacy
vector legacy: what I usually use, bug occurs and the area where you can click on the link is just at the bottom of the text and just a bit above it
minervaneue: bug occurs and the area where you can click is even smaller, to the point where it doesn't even show up at times. The area where you can click on the link also doesn't show up above the link unlike other things
monobook: same as vector legacy
timeless: absolutely no bug, link works completely fine.
ps: it will take a while for my friend to do the virtual machine

Try logging out and looking at the page not logged in to rule out anything in your preferences. — xaosflux Talk 13:34, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
okay I'll try that Gaismagorm (talk) 13:35, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yep the bug is gone when I do that. must be my prefrences. Gaismagorm (talk) 13:36, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

thats odd, still didn't work. oh well, doesn't matter, I don't even speak Egyptian Arabic, I just noticed the bug. Gaismagorm (talk) 16:37, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
still helps, at least on your device, seems like your user case right now "logged in users" have the problem "logged out users" do not. Correct?
Please try looking at the page in our safemode which disables certain shared scripts. — xaosflux Talk 16:41, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yeah it looks like that's the case, i'll try enabling safemode Gaismagorm (talk) 16:42, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
nope, didn't work. Honestly I give up trying to figure this out, it's more trouble than it's worth. Also the virtual machine thing sadly wont happen, but oh well. Gaismagorm (talk) 16:44, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Remove Egyptian Arabic. It was added earlier this year [diff], Although it has over 1.6 millions articles, 1.4 Mi was created by HitomiAkane in a bot-like way (better explained in OCLC 1341182226). It even has a depth lower than Cebuano (0.46, compared to 2.18). Vinickw 19:50, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jo-Jo Eumerus:, any comment? You added it back based on @ToadetteEdit:'s request in Template talk:Wikipedia languages/Archive_8#Edit request 4 January 2024. (Alternatively, ToadetteEdit - any notes on your original request regarding this new objection?) — xaosflux Talk 13:43, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I don't have anything to say. I guess that we don't usually check who expands a wiki. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 18:55, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the link is also kinda buggy (see above section). Gaismagorm (talk) 20:03, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ToadetteEdit, any objections to removal? Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:04, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
