Dallas Baker (born November 10, 1982 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida) is an American wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In college, he played for the Florida Gators football team.

College career

Baker, a star receiver at New Smyrna Beach High School, originally chose to play for the Gators for their 2001 recruiting class during Steve Spurrier's last season at UF. Due to academics, Baker had to enroll at Northfield Mt. Hermon School in Massachusetts for one year. When Spurrier left and Ron Zook was hired to replace him, Baker stuck with Florida and enrolled as a partial-scholarship player in 2002.

Urban Meyer's hiring at Florida 3 seasons later marked a turning point in Baker's career at Florida. In 2005, he doubled his receptions for the previous year with 56. After the season, Baker's grades were good enough to earn back the year of eligibility lost to the partial-scholarship. The 2006 season saw him lead the Gators in receptions, yards, and receiving touchdowns. His senior season also saw him help the team win the SEC Championship Game for the first time in six years and emerge victorious in the BCS Championship Game, where he caught a touchdown pass to help the Gators defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes 41-14.

Played high school football with Bates College player, Dylan MacNamara who overshadowed Baker in his only prep school season. Unfortunatly, MacNamara would never live up to his potential while at Bates.

Baker's uncanny ability to score touchdowns has earned him the nickname "Dallas Baker, Touchdown Maker" by legendary Gator radio announcer Mick Hubert.

He recently graduated from the University of Florida on December 16, 2006 with a bachelor's degree in recreation programming.

Dallas is also the nephew of former Gator, NFL player, and coach Wes Chandler.
