Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 20:08, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on 'Supreme Goddess Lorena'-page

Hello,

Thank you for reacting on the article about Supreme Goddess Lorena. As a novice contributor I hope you want to help me to improve the article. I opened a talk-page about it. Can you leave there your suggestions about how I can make the article better?

Thanks,
Devstef

One of the problems that i'm SURE will be addressed by Freak is that we can't self reference to source something. I'm trying to understand how he can argue non-notability on so many pagan articles, yet try and claim inherent notability in obscure military units.--Vidkun 13:54, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A few real references from outside will deal with his foibles--and mine. Frankly, I'm not quite sure it's been shown to exist.DGG 03:32, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Remember, even Christianity is, essentially, self-referential. One book... :) --Bill W. Smith, Jr. (talk/contribs) 16:20, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey!

I don't want to muddy the waters. If you have a problem with my work here I'd love to hear about it (really). I want to let you know that any edits I make here are not the result of an anti-Pagan bias (although I do have personal issues with that movement) but are because I want what is best for wikipedia. If you feel that my aim is contrary to the health of wikipedia then PLEASE let me know. I'm not here to push an agenda. Please drop me a line when you get a chance. I know that you're instrumental in the NeoPagan project and dialouge can only be constuctive. Being an editor in good standing I confident that you and I can come to terms on how bst to proceed. thank you for the suggestions on Celtic Reconstructionist Paganism. Whateley23 03:48, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CR Paganism

Um, I believe you made a slight mistake in adding the Notable Wikipedian template to the Talk:Celtic Reconstructionist Paganism page with my name. I'm not mentioned in the article nor have I ever been mentioned in the article. Would you mind removing the tag? Unless there's something I'm missing or a reason not readily apparent to me? Please let me know if there is. Thanks, Pigman 22:01, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the removal of the tag. Also, thanks very much for your critique of the CR article. You made some excellent points and I'm going to try to address them today. I appreciate you taking the time to do it. Best, Pigman 18:40, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neopaganism

Did you reedit the entries I did?

I am obviously not as skilled at the wiki process and feared I missed entries causing inconsistancies.

The problem here is that from the very begining Reconstructionism is both older, more studious, and clearly defined from Neopaganism, and Neopagans have always sought to "hitch their wagon" to that legitimacy no matter who just made up their belief system on the spot. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.185.125.218 (talk) 23:02, 4 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Peer review

Thank you for your review of the article about Espejo. These are my comments about your suggestions:

1. I will try to organize the references as in Samuel Adams' article.

2. Confront means that I am not citing the author, but giving my interpretation of what that person wrote. For instance, if you had the work cited, you could look for that reference and compare it to what I wrote.

3. Some things in Spanish are not translated as they are footnotes, which may not be of the interest of the reader; in other words, they are just complements. I agree that it would be the best if they were followed by an English translation, but some of them are quite complex (written in old Spanish) and lots of things would be lost in translation (besides, I'm not good at translating into English)

4. You are right. Interesting, isn't it?

5. I don't agree with your idea of incorporating all of the endnotes into the text of the article. I think they are just complementary, and if I did that, the article itself would get longer and boring to some people. If people are really interested in those facts, they should click the footnotes.

6. That's right, shortly after he graduated in jurisprudence and canon law. Regarding his racial discrimination, it is not really hinted only once; later on, we are told that his pseudonym "showed his efforts to remove any vestige of his crossbreeding, in a culture which granted any white person importance and prestige". I could expand the part about his racial discrimination a bit more (it is actually an important part of his life story), but I think that would make the article unnecesarily longer. Also, some of the authors I read treated that matter in a subjective way.

7. "Cía, Apéstegui y Perochena" are Spanish (and therefore "white") lastnames. Perhaps I could include this remark as a footnote.

8. I'll see what I can do about it.

9. Barreto's report, stated that "The large number of religious celebrations in Riobamba were prejudicial to Catholic faith, agriculture, industry and the interests of the Crown". Espejo replied that "The economic problems of Quito could not be solved by the exploiting its human resources (the Indians) but by planning and taking advantage of the natural resources of the region." Barreto argued that Indians were not employed as they should because they spent too much time in celebrations organized by the priests.

10. That's because there is no article about the movement. However, after you click the link if you look well you'll see the following: "1809 - Quito, now the capital of Ecuador, declares independence from Spain". Maybe I should also include the year.

11. You are right about that observation. I should have wrote "He never traveled abroad, but nonetheless understood etc."

Once again thank you for your comments; let me know what do you think about my response. Dalobuca 00:23, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Corrections

Hi there. I have made several corrections to the article about Espejo, taking into account some of your suggestions. Please let me know if I have successfully dealt with the problems the article had, or if my comments above were helpful to explain why I do not agree with some of the suggestions you made. Thank you very much for your time. Dalobuca 18:26, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, I believe from the talk page at Neopaganism that you are interested in this topic. I've set up a drafting page here which will let us assemble a good-looking, well-referenced article so that we can release it into the mainspace with a chance of surviving. I'm happy to 'host' the page but have no knowledge of Circle Sanctuary myself, so will rely on others with more knowledge for material! Please come and join us if you would like to.
