An Interactive Whiteboard is most commonly used in the office or classroom.

How it Works?

Used in many schools and offices, how it works is very simple: The interactive whiteboard connects to a computer with a USB or optional serial cable and draws the power it needs from the computer. The SMART Board (or ACTIV Board) driver automatically starts when the computer is turned on, and the interactive whiteboard becomes active once the driver is running.

When you connect a digital projector to your computer, you can project the computer image onto the interactive whiteboard. If you're using a SMART Board for Flat-Panel Displays interactive whiteboard, the computer image is displayed by the panel.

The SMART Board driver converts contact with the interactive whiteboard into mouse clicks or digital ink. This feature enables you to use your finger as a mouse or write overtop of applications.

Classroom Uses

It is used in many schools as a replacement whiteboard, others to show everyone things from the computer for example learning programs on the computer which improve learning and make it fun including ACTIV Studio, it can also be connected to a video recorder or DVD player eliminating the need for a television, it allows children to come up and solve puzzles and maths questions and allows the teacher to keep notes on the lesson.

Office Uses

Allowing people to like in school, view graphs and tables showing money, demand etc for stores, allowing people to view reports and documents from the computer and letting people view other things.

Accessories

For ACTIV Studio you can have a pen allowing you to use the computer from the board.
