Somy Ali (born March 25, 1974) is an South Asian/middle eastern Indian Actress. She was born in Karachi, Pakistan and stands 5'9" tall. She studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary School in Karachi. When she was 7, her family re-located to the U.S.A.. Her Iraqi mom's name is Tehmina, and her dad Madan is Pakistani. She has one brother, Mohammed, who is the youngest. Two sisters, Hina and Huma.

When she was 16 she made her foray into Bollywood movies and did some modelling in Bombay. In all she acted in 9 movies in a career that spanned from 1993 to 1997.

Somy was the reason that Salman Khan dumped Sangeeta Bijlani. His affair with Somy ended she he started dating Aishwarya Rai.

She returned to U.S.A. in 1999, studied in Nova Southeastern University in Florida and obtained a degree in psychology. She also went on to obtain a degree in journalism.

She also obtained a degree in film making from the New York Film Academy, and went on to produce 3 documentaries on 'Abortion', 'Domestic Violence', and 'Teenage Suicide'. She has also produced films on human rights issues and a documentary 'Lives of Muslim Women'.

She has also done Radio talk-shows on social and political issues.
