Keser
Keser is a Scottish band from Edinburgh, UK. Keser was formed by Kevan Whitley and David Reid and debuted in 2005 and have gone on to
"achieve in their tracks a new sound drenched in guitar-based electronica...they are able to explore the syntax of electronica with awe and excitement", according to Is This Music Magazine.
The Keser sound has its roots in the Glasgow underground guitar music scene of the late 90s which included transcendental bands such as Aereogramme, Mogwai and Arab Strap.
Fusing the guitar style of that lauded era with synthesised beats has resulted in a new progressive form of guitar-based seraphic electronica.
Ambient and ethereal sounds elevate subtly, building up into crushing waves and returning back again. The vaporous instrumentals and melodic chimings are only anchored by the electro beats and unconditional ambience throughout.
Their live sound tends to lean towards the instrumental, heavy, distorted and energetic approach but will still settle into a calm ambience drawing comparisons to genres like shoegaze, art rock, metal and post rock. Their live set up involves electric guitar, bass, drum machine, effects, sampler and laptop.
The band are signed to Edinburgh indie label Alex Tronic Records and their releases are distributed in the UK by Cargo Records and Arabesque Worldwide.
The name Keser was chosen from a graffiti tag seen around Edinburgh with no real meaning intended.
