The Arnamagnæan codex is the collection of manuscripts assembled by Árni Magnússon (1663-1730). He was an Icelander who was a professor at the University of Copenhagen, which was the only university for Denmark, Norway and Iceland. He was a passionate scholar of Icelandic and Scandinavian history and created the by far largest collection of Icelandic MSs. Today it is the property of the Arnamagnæan Foundation.
