Stop deleting the American Ninja Warrior results

Please stop deleting the ANW2 20th competition results from the Sasuke article. You are deleting facts from a competition that occurred, and was aired over a month ago.

This is the Sasuke article. This is NOT a Ninja Warrior article. Please refrain from continuing to vandalize that article. VxJasonxV (talk) 04:55, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jen, while your intentions are good, the fact is Wikipedia does not have a policy preventing spoilers. Here is a link to the relevant policy page - Wikipedia:Spoiler. If people want to know the outcome of the contest before it airs on G4TV, that is their choice. On an unrelated note, is there any strings you can pull to get Ninja Warrior aired on G4TechTV in Canada? xenocidic (talk) 21:02, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, in a sense, but you're reading the letter of the law and not the spirit. On the way home from work I was actually pondering your rationale - that your (viewership) numbers would drop - I actually don't think this is the case. I would watch Ninja Warrior (if it aired in Canada) whether or not I knew the outcome - just because it's so damn hilarious. Anyhow, I don't think you'll find that Wikipedia will actively censor or omit the information which is available, as someone mentioned to you on their talk page, Wikipedia is a global entity. Cheers, xenocidic (talk) 22:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, Jennifer, along the same lines as what Xenocidic said; I read the Kunoichi article the morning that the G4 folks (I don't know your position/title, nor technical employer, I apologize for assuming you're not a program manager, if in fact you are) were finally going to air the 6th and 7th competitions. It completely spoiled the results for me, but I still tuned in for the initial airing of the entire marathon. It was really great to watch. Reading about something and watching something, especially something as dynamic as Sasuke/Kunoichi, are so entirely different that it's completely worth it to watch even if the results were spoiled.
I have a few suggestions, but they're probably all pretty unfeasible. Air a raw'ish version of the competition (though not everyone's a Japanophile, many will actually want to understand what they're hearing :P), shrink the turnaround time to significantly less than ~2 months (I have no idea how long the translation/edit/narration process takes, however).
I do apologize for being so blunt, to both you and Mr. Orosco. (Doubly so to Mr. Orosco, as my tone was significantly more harsh.) I do apologize for calling you a vandal. I do immensely appreciate the fact that you continue to air this show. Not to even mention thanking you for the concept and continuation of the ANW competition. Given how the 20th competition turned out, ANW2 paid enormous (figurative) dividends.
In thinking over how these events transpired, the thought came to me of how I would feel if "Ninja Warrior" didn't exist. If G4 would stop putting the investment into translation/production of Sasuke (not to mention the financial agreement with TBS/Monster9 for the raw footage), stop paying for American contestants to go to Japan, etc. It was quite a sad thought, I completely admit. And I would hate to see this go away. Chances are I might not have found out about Sasuke for a very, VERY, long time. On that note, I might have simply been happy with nothing more than American Gladiators! (What a scary thought.)
I feel so simple-minded in saying this, but there needs to be an agreement, but I don't think it's going to come about between a litigation bout between G4 (E! ?) and Wikipedia...
I really don't know what else to say, other than to say that I'm very sorry it came to this. I hope to hear back from you with more thoughts on this (that doesn't seem to be too unlikely not to happen.) VxJasonxV (talk) 03:20, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you both for your responses. I did not mean to imply a legal BATTLE, just that our legal DEPARTMENT is who handles these discussions if not easily resolved. TBS has helped us quite a bit also on other sites. We LOVE wikipedia, we also love our job and the American Ninja Challenge. While your logic makes sense - the raw fact is that numbers ALWAYS drop when leaks happen. We can only hope for more viewers like you who will watch regardless. Thank you both for your responses, I don't want to argue or fight, and I will pass on your message to Brian. I think he wants a ANC3 =). Its tough to accurately explain, but we are cable not a major network. We can't afford to lose money - not even a little. We don't have that freedom and luxury a larger media conglomerate has. I get your point - that the competition aired in Japan already, but most of the world hasn't seen it. G4 makes that possible (my apologies to Canada). Ninja Warrior won't go anywhere, thats not in danger. AMERICAN NINJA CHALLENGE is the special we are trying to protect. And the dividends are definitely figurative thus far =), but yes, we were all THRILLED with the outcome.

I absolutely agree - we need to have an agreement. The COOL thing potentially ... is that we can get accurate info on Sasuke/Ninja Warrior/American Ninja Challenge. Questions such as did Colin go to U of M or Michigan state could be easily answered by us, and more difficult questions regarding sasuke such as budget estimations. We don't want to PREVENT info from being made public, we just would like the release of the results to be better timed.

ps - I am very glad you enjoy the show!! =) (Jennawils (talk) 21:03, 25 April 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Well Jen, I just don't think you'll find people are willing to obscure info which exists in the world. As it stands, I'm not working on the Sasuka/ANW article anymore (no access to the show), but thanks for the explanation. xenocidic (talk) 21:56, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am one of the people that posted spoilers on here and I am very active on the Ninja Warrior forums at G4. I was not happy at this whole situation because I feel like its G4 vs. its viewers. As a G4 viewer, I was first introduced into Sasuke through G4 a year ago and have since become one of the biggest Ninja Warrior/Sasuke fans, so much so that I was able to see the TBS broadcast online. While I did not directly post the results of the 20th Competition in the forums, I did make it available to anyone that wanted it. Myself and other NW fanatics in the forums and elsewhere were/are not happy with your crusade against youtube, wikipedia, and other fansites (even ones in other languages). However, I am happy that it seems that this issue can be resolved. As a NW/Sasuke fan, I want to see Sasuke and the ANC go on as long as possible, so I have an idea that may be possible. This idea was alluded to in a post above but I want to expand it. How about G4 show the TBS broadcast of Sasuke here at the same time it is shown in Japan. Just the simple, all Japanese, 3 hour broadcast. That would start at about 5am EST here in the US. Then re-show the program in primetime that day. That way, the fanatics that have to know what happened ASAP can know. Then, maybe a few days later or weeks later, show the new Ninjafest with new Ninja Warrior episodes. That includes the behind-the-scenes episodes, the typical Ninja Warrior features, (subtitles, Mark Wittenberg voiceover, and obstacle chart on the side), and the ANC post show. Ninjafest could be for the casual fan and the fanatic that needs to know everything about NW. I hope something like this can happen for Sasuke 21/ANC 3 so that we don't have another fans vs. G4 situation. Thanks, --scnoi1217
