"Burnin' Up"
Song

"Burnin' Up" is the first single of American pop rock band the Jonas Brothers to be released from their third studio album, A Little Bit Longer, and was officially released via Radio Disney on June 19, 2008 as well as other radio stations, and on iTunes on June 20, 2008.[2]

Song Information

The band first performed this song on the Look Me In the Eyes Tour as well as at the 2008 Disney Channel Games. Their upcoming summer tour, titled the Burning Up Tour, is named after this song. The song also features a rap from their bodyguard, Robert "Big Rob" Feggans. The iTunes Store named this single as #1 on their "Best of the Store" Playlist on June 24 2008, the date of the single's digital release. This song is due to be release in the UK in September on a double-a side with "When You Look Me in the Eyes."

Entertainment Weekly stated that the song "was inspired by Jonas Brothers' unlikely appreciation for the work of babe magnet Prince."[3] The band wrote it while on their last tour, Look Me in the Eyes Tour, in Lousianna. Nick Jonas also stated that the song is "about this girl — maybe she's at a party — and you feel that immediate connection [and] both know it's there."[3] Nick also said in the "Bonus Jonas Time", a promotional commercial for the band on Disney Channel that "It was hilarious. It was really hot outside and we are in Band in a Bus [their tourbus] trying to cool down and it kind of all came together, so it's really cool."

The music video for "Burnin' Up" premiered after the premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock on Disney Channel as well as ABC on June 21, 2008. In the video, the brothers read over a potential video treatment and imagine how the video would play out, in which they are portrayed as various action stars. Cameos in the video include Selena Gomez, David Carradine, Robert Davi, and Danny Trejo.

Charts

With strong digital sales, "Burnin' Up" debuted at #5 on the US Billboard Hot 100, with more than 183,000 legal downloads of the single for the first week it went on sale.[4] "Burnin' Up" influenced the sales increase of their second album Jonas Brothers to sell 64,000 more copies worldwide.[citation needed] It is also the highest single debut and the highest charted single for a Hollywood Records artist.[citation needed]
