Qiqihar Medical University is a state-owned institution for higher education, founded in 1946 with a long and proud history.
Location
The university, located in Qiqihar city of Heilongjiang province northeast of China, has the campus with total area of 1,150 thousand square meters.
History
The predecessor of Qiqihar Medical University (QMU) is Military Medical School of Heilongjiang Military Area which was established by Ministry of Health of Heilongjiang Military Area Command in 1946. In 1951, it was renamed Heilongjiang Provincial Medical Assistant School, and changed the name as Qiqihar Medical Assistant School. With time going, it was upgraded as Qiqihar Medical College by approval of the State Council in 1978, and then as Qiqihar Medical University by approval of original State Education Committee in 1986. At present, Qiqihar Medical University (QMU) has developed into a medical teaching, medical treatment and scientific research center in Northwest Heilongjiang Province of China.
