FindLaw is a legal resource website owned by the Thomson Corporation.

The website is aimed towards US law practioners and students, thus most materials are American only. For no charge, the site offers access to case law, legislation, lawyer directories, a career center and and law related news articles.

According to FindLaw's website, "FindLaw began in 1995 as a list of Internet resources compiled by engineer and attorney Timothy Stanley and attorney Stacy Stern for a workshop of the Northern California Law Librarians." Stanley and Stern eventually posted the list on the Web so others could use it as well, and launched FindLaw in January of 1996.

FindLaw was purchased by West Group, now known as Thomson, in January of 2001.
