Lehesten is a town in the Thuringian Forest, 20 km southeast of Saalfeld. Following the World War II Operation Hydra, 400 engineers were moved from Peenemünde to a new V-2 rocket facility for testing rocket motors near Lehesten (the facility included 16 liquid oxygen production plants.)[2]
