Proposed deletion of Www.comaxflavors.com

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Www.comaxflavors.com, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

advert

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. A tag has been placed on Comax Flavors, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. July 2009

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Comax Flavors, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. WuhWuzDat 20:05, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Comax Flavors

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Comax Flavors. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 20:14, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in this edit to Category:Flavor companies. Inappropriate links include links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that serve as advertising or promotion. Thank you. Request an article - don't know if I'm in the right spot for this

I would like to request an article about my company, Comax Flavors. This can be in several different categories: Food & cooking, Businesses & Organizations, Chemistry & Chemicals Labs.

Comax Flavors was founded in 1977 by Peter Calabretta Sr. and his associates. The original name was Comax Manufacturing Corporation, and they were located in Mineola, NY. In (roughly) 1995, the company was moved to Melville, NY into a larger facility, and several more people were brought on, including their current VP of Flavors and technology, who helped further recognition of Comax in the industry. Comax has 65 employees currently, and additional offices in Bogota, Colombia, Shanghai, China, Costa Rica and the Philippines. Now owned by the next generation of the Calabretta family, a new President was hired in 2008.

The facility in China is called Shanghai Comax Flavors, and will service the Asian region. The facility in Colombia is called Comax Latin America, and services Central and South America.

In addition - (hopefully this is seen as noteworthy, and not seen as advertising), Comax has an ingredient which is acceptable by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), a Federal Agency, and it is listed on their website - [[7]]

Thank you

How long does a request usually take?

{{helpme}} Will I get notification if someone writes an article, or do I just look it up one day and there it is? Thanks!Roo2904 (talk) 15:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you could add it to your watchlist, and it will show up as a red link; then if the article were created, it would show up in blue on your watchlist. However, your own talk page is not the place to request new articles; that is handled at WP:RA. As a further note, I'm not sure that Comax would qualify for an article; please read WP:CORP and note that press releases from a company about itself are not by themselves sufficient to establish WP:NOTABILITY. If you have any further questions, feel free to write them below; I'm watchlisting your page.  Frank  |  talk  16:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What kind of other sources could I find? There are other flavor companies in here, where the only link is their website. For example, Chr. Hansen has an article, ans there is nothing more newsworthy than Comax's information. I don't know why this is so hard. Thanks. Roo2904 (talk) 19:22, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not hard when a company is notable; it does become harder if a company is marginally notable because it hasn't had any coverage in independent, reliable sources. There are literally millions of company; the situation is that the large majority of them simply aren't notable. The question here is whether nor not Comax is notable; we need sources to prove that it is. As for Chr. Hansen, I question its notability as well, and that article has no sources. That doesn't help you though; we're talking about Comax.  Frank  |  talk  19:27, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Frank. I added some more information. Would you mind peeking at it before it gets labeled as SPAM by somebody else? Thanks (PS, I named that product  :) )Roo2904 (talk) 19:46, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm unclear where you're talking about. The article doesn't exist. If you mean the press releases you've provided above, on this page, my own opinion is they are not sufficient to establish notability. I am not the only arbiter, however; if you wish to try at WP:RA you can see what others think.  Frank  |  talk  20:04, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, The TTB website in the last link has one of our products in their drawback instructions. It is called VANI-MAX. This is the section it is in:

Artificial Versus Natural Vanillin "It is the position of the TTB that the only source of natural vanillin is from vanilla beans. All other sources (clove, turmeric, lignin, eugenol) are considered artificial and should be labeled accordingly on TTB Form 5154.1.

The Nonbeverage Products Laboratory has received notification from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the fermentation process for the manufacture of vanillin as submitted to them by Rhodia, Inc. (Rhovanil ®) and Comax Flavors (VANI-MAX™) has been determined to be a natural process resulting in a natural product. This applies only to the specific process submitted by Rhodia Inc. and Comax Flavors and not to any other processes for the production of vanillin. For further information, please contact the FDA."Roo2904 (talk) 12:54, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again, I'm not sure that the references you've provided on this page are sufficient to establish notability according to WP:CORP and, more generally, WP:NOTABILITY. You are free to ask at WP:RA because I am just one person; others may have a different opinion.  Frank  |  talk  16:38, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I resubmitted the Comax Flavors article the way it told me to, after adding some things, and it is still in the declined list instead of any "pending" list. Can someone please tell me if it is pending and I just have to wait, or if I missed a step? Thanks!Roo2904 (talk) 19:40, 21 July 2009 (UTC) [reply]
