Oxo wall

The oxo wall is a term in inorganic chemistry which refers to a segregation between the early transition metals (groups 3 through ~8) and late transition metals (groups 9 through 12) in heir ability to form metal-oxygen multiple bonds. While the early ones form metal-oxo compounds easily, such as in the case of the vanadyl cation, VO+, the late transition metal-oxo complexes are virtually unknown.
