Panini was an ancient Indian grammarian who is most famous for formulating 4000 rules of Sanskrit grammar. Panini's rules are said to be perfect - that is, they perfectly define the Sanskrit language. Panini's rules are so clear that computer scientists have made use of Paninian grammer rules to teach computers to understand Sanskrit.
