New article name is Starts Friday
Starts Friday is the first feature film from Writer and Director Beranrd Anthony Lewandowski. Initially written in 2000 for HBO's first season of Project Greenlight, Starts Friday is the brainchild of a former movie theater projectionist and film school graduate who assembled a $500 shooting budget, some unknown actors from Milwaukee, an inexperienced crew, and an interesting assortment of East Side Milwaukee locations for this coming-of-age, stoner-comedy.
Starts Friday follows five days in the aimless and languid lives of best friends Jimmy Quinn and Jerzy Dillon, two twenty-something, Milwaukee movie-theater employees who spend their days reminiscing about lost loves, discussing movie trivia, smoking dope and generally living the life of a spoiled teenager. After a chance encounter with a high school friend, Jerzy becomes restless and feels guilty that he has not done more with his life. Jerzy then finds out that his ex-girlfriend is getting married much sooner than expected. He also runs into Jimmy's ex-girlfriend Natalie, which get the wheels spinning even more. While smoking some dope in the car, which is fortuitously parked in the garage, the garage door creeps down slowly and quietly without either friend noticing. After an unknown period of time, Jerzy notices that the car windows are down and the door has mysteriously shut. Convinced what had happened was a sign, Jerzy asks Jimmy to go straight and try to reoncile with their girlfriends. Jimmy is hesitant but Jerzy reminds him that he just saved his life. The two young men begin their quest to meet up with their lost loves, bu things take a strange and unexpected turn when Jimmy falls back in love with Natalie, who wants him to move to Portland with her. Jerzy, on the other hand, is having no such luck with his ex, Grace, who wants very little to do with him. Jerzy then asks Jimmy to leave with him to California, although Jimmy has his mind set on leaving with Natalie. Jimmy must make the difficult decision to move on with his life or leave his best friend behind.
