Template:Fix bunching The snaggletooth shark, Hemipristis elongatus, is a species of weasel shark, family Hemigaleidae, and the only extant member of the genus Hemipristis. It is found in the Indo-West Pacific, including the Red Sea, from southeast Africa to the Philippines, north to China, and south to Australia, at depths of from 1 to 130 m. Its length is up to 2.4 m (8 ft) and it can weigh up to about 250 kg.

Anatomy

Coloration is light grey or bronzy with no prominent markings. Like its name suggests it has sharp, serrated teeth. Reproduction is viviparous.

The snaggletooth shark was featured in a spin-off for Walking With Dinosaurs called Prehistoric Planet. The snaggletooth shark is also featured in Walking with Beasts. It was shown to hunt the prehistoric primate Apidium in the mangroves.
