The Miami Wikipedia Day Meetup is planned for January 15, 2011 at the cafe at Books and Books in South Beach. Tentative meeting time is 2 pm. Books and Books is located at 927 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL. Their phone number is 305-532-3222. 25°47′27″N 80°08′18″W / 25.790845°N 80.138317°W / 25.790845; -80.138317.

The Miami celebration is one of a number of Wikipedia 10 events being held worldwide, commemorating the founding of the project in 2001.

  • Pick a place! I vote for Books and Books cafe. GroveGuy (talk) 08:58, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • The event is posted as meetup MIAMI. So let's respect the city that was chosen by keeping it at home. I highly doubt the wikipedians in NYC met in Jersey. Cheers! Eric Statzer (talk) 07:02, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Who doesn't LOVE Miami Beach (world's playground when I lived there - what memories!!!) in the winter? I vote for Books and Books too, 933 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, (305) 695 - 8898 (even though I love Wet Willies, although not much of a drinker). I have never been to B & B, but the menu seems to have something for everyone and the reviews are good, although they both have 4 out of 5 stars, which is as good as these reviews get. I don't like the bathroom facilities at W. W., so B & B cannot be worse, IMO; also, I have eaten at News Cafe. I like Wet Willie's food better. Bottom line: I have been to Wet Willie's and News Cafe. You cannot go wrong with Wet Willie's, but there seems to be more variety with the Books & Books Miami Beach menu - and it's more of an intellectual's place - and isn't that what we WIKIPEDIANS are, LOL? BTW, I LOVE Wikipedia - I have recommended it for years to my students (when Wikipedia was a young toddler). http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-cafe-at-books-and-books-miami-beach So let me just say:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WIKIPEDIA!!! GREAT JOB, JIMMY!!! =D A big fan (I donated - a worthy cause)!!! =D DRJACOBB (talk) 16:26, 1 January 2011 (UTE)

Possibility

Comment - Well, it looks like those asking for a shift a bit northward have lost out. How about a mid-afternoon time instead of noon? Speaking for myself, I am much more likely to attend if I don't have to wake up and start a long drive. Jusdafax 16:55, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

News lounge in design district is a much better venue, Miami Beach gives me the consumerist creeps. I'd go wherever it ends up being though.

At Coral Gables, not Miami Beach. Halofanatic333 (talk) 22:08, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
