Eli Holzman is a creator–developer, writer, and producer of several television programs and episodes, but has recently attained his greatest success in reality-based television series. Thus far, he has been nominated for four Emmy Awards (Outstanding Non-fiction Program (Reality) of 2002 for Project Greenlight (2001), Outstanding Reality Program of 2004 for Project Greenlight 2 (2003), Outstanding Reality Program of 2005 for Project Runway (2005), and Outstanding Reality Program of 2005 for Project Greenlight 3 (2005)), and two Producers Guild of America Awards (Television Producer of the Year Award in Reality/Game/Informational Series of 2003 for Project Greenlight (2001) and Television Producer of the Year Award in Reality/Game/Informational Series of 2004 for Project Greenlight 2 (2003)).
Early career
Eli Holzman began his career at Miramax Films in early 1996. He initially worked as an assistant to Harvey Weinstein, but soon moved to the film production department. There he worked in a minor capacity on numerous films, including In Too Deep and Rounders. He moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to play a role in founding Miramax's television arm.
Miramax Television
Holzman participated in the creation of Project Greenlight, helping to drive the initial boom in popularity for reality television shows. He served as a production supervisor for a wide variety of projects, covering the full breadth of genres produced by Miramax Television. Over the course of his employment, he was promoted to the top executive position at Miramax Television. The popular Bravo show Project Runway is considered the peak of his tenure as the department head.
