Vrahovice
Vrahovice is a village in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic, near Prostějov. It is administrative part of Prostějov. It has around 3,400 inhabitants. There is a church, St. Bartolomew's, as well as a post office and a few pubs.
History
The village was mentioned in 1337 at first. In 1370, the first church in Vrahovice was mentioned. The church burned down in 1587 during big fire. Shortly after that, the another church was built. It was using to 1831, when it was destroyed and replaced by new one which was built between 1831-1836 and financed by Jan Josef count Seilern, possesor of the Kralice domain.
Near Vrahovice, another village called Trpenovice (nowadays Trpinky) was situated. In 1466 it was connected to Vrahovice. Currently it is still part of Vrahovice.
It past Vrahovice was owned by many possesors. The last one was Seilerns. In 1725 Jan Bedřich Seilern bought Vrahovice.
In 1848, Vrahovice had its first mayor - Jan Frébort. The largest development occurred in the inter-war era, when Josef Stříž was the mayor. In this time, it was built road to Prostějov and Vrbátky. Also cityhall was built. During the WWII Nazi occupators built observation point on the hill above Vrahovice. They controlled situation in the railway from this point. After World War II, in Vrahovice there was an internment camp for Germans from Prostějov region, which were waiting for the transfer to Germany. Between 1950 and 1954 and since 1973 Vrahovice is the part of Prostějov. Nowadays there are voices of disjunction.
On 9th December 2004 the railway accident occured in Vrahovice. The lorry with soldiers crashed with the train. There were 9 people dead.

Other information
The musicians Zdeněk Tylšar and Bedřich Tylšar were born in the village and the linguist Dr. František Kopečný lived there for many years. In Vrahovice there are many clubs such as Sokol, Association of Volunteer Firemen, Spolek za staré Vrahovice etc.
