Pangalengan

It is situated 48 km away from Bandung to the south passing Dayeuhkolot and Banjaran areas. The road condition is good enough and it is easy to reach by using public transportation or private vehicle about 2 hour’s drive. The first impression one gets from the Pangalengan is that romanticism and the nostalgia of the old days are all blended in natural panorama with the green back ground of tea and quinine plantations. In addition, there are also heritage from the colonial time, such as the guest houses of the plantation administrators as well as those of the plantation employees, tea plantation, parks and roads having the style of architecture of the colonial time, which all of them are still taken care of properly. Here, there is also a mausoleum of Karel Rudolf Bosscha, founder observatory in Lembang, situated in middle of tea plantation and is surrounded by well treated bush. Pangalengan is also known as the largest cow-milk producing region in Indonesia. The milk production is often so large and it can not be absorbed by milk processor. So, there is an initiative taken by the cow breeders to make use the milk surplus by making some special cookies of Pangalengan, for instance, crips, dodol, and tofu made of milk. Beside them, Pangalengan is also popular have cultural village, because Pangalengan have Cikondang Cultural Village that the people of this village still believe to their great grandparent and also they still using the cultural rule in their life. There are so many potential tourism objects, such as tea plantation, lakes, rainforest, hot spring water, cultural reserve, natural reserve, waterfalls, mounts, volcano, cave, and also old building.
