Shabiba Islamiya

Chabiba islamia or Chabiba Al Islamiya was a violent clandestine and extremist Moroccan, Islamist group founded in 1969 by Abdelkrim Motii and Kamal Ibrahim. Its goal was the establishment of an Islamic state in Morocco.

With the encouragements of Driss Basri[citation needed] the interior minister of King Hassan II, a group of legalist members of the then defunct movement joined a small political party named the MPDC. This party has been founded by Abdelkrim Al Khatib an old politician known for his close ties with the Monarchy.[citation needed] The MPDC has then been later renamed to Justice and Development Party and is now the main Moroccan Islamist party.
