The Australia Stakes known formerly as the Norman Carlyon Stakes is a MRC Group 2 Australian Thoroughbred horse race for horses aged three years old and over under weight for age conditions, over a distance of 1200 metres. It is held annually at Moonee Valley Racecourse in Melbourne in January.

1989 onwards held over 1200 metres

1989 was a Listed Race
1990 – 1993 was a Group 3
1994 onwards Group 2

1989 - 1997 the race was known as the Stanley Wootton Stakes
1998 - 2009 the race was called the Norman Carlyon Stakes
2010 onwards the race has been called Australia Stakes
