Paramelomys steini is a species of rodent native to Indonesia. Official observation of this species was only obtained on the Wayland Mountain on the island of New Guinea (Papua Province, Indonesia). They have only been observed on montane (high-altitude) forests.[1] The population of P. steini is not known.

They used to be called the same name as Paramelomys rubex before they were recognized as different species. P. steini have larger bodies but shorter and wider hind feet.[2]
